Power Loss w/ Ported Mani, Unported Turbo

I needed to replace my 1g mani since it had a lot of cracks in it and bought a 2g ported mani. However I noticed while I can hear the turbo spool the car isn't really making any power. There just seems like it isn't boosing as much as it should. Will porting the turbo solve this problem? Also I put the circular ring that sits between the turbo exhaust inlet and the mani back in...I'm thinking that wasn't a good idea. If anyone could give me a response I'd appreciate it.

Yea, you should def port match the manifold to the turbo and for sure ditch the o-ring.
 
This has probably been asked before, but what type of die grinder should I use? I've found some cheap ones on eBay around $5-$15. They're 25k RPM, 300 W and use a .23" shank. If anyone can tell me what type of stone/bit works best that would be great. I'm sick of driving the car like this. :talon:

When I ported my turbo, I used a carbide bit from my buddy's machine shop. If you could get your hands on carbide, it's worth it. :thumb:

As far as your previous post, you should not feel a huge difference with ported/unported. Port matching is definatily the way to go, but they shouldn't be a huge feeling between the both of them. Habe you checked for boost leaks and exhaust leaks allready??
 
There is quite a noticeable difference. Without having my boost gauge installed yet I am unable to confirm there are boost leaks since I haven't tested for them. When I give her gas the timing seems to be pulled; the car jerks a little depending on how quickly I get on the throttle. I also believe I've lost a couple MPG as well. I tightened down the hoses because I thought one of them might've been leaking but it didn't seem to make even the slightest difference. Timing is set at exactly 5 degrees. The turbo sings but the car doesn't make power. I think the spacer ring not matching the ports on the mani create enough turbulence that is really making the car run crappy. I really should've taken that spacer ring out. :|
