Power Loss

Good morning people. I have a 95 eclipse gsx with a 6 bolt swap. On my way to work this morning I heard metal under the hood and I'm not sure if it was my exhaust or the engine but right after that I lost my radio then my dashboard lights then my car died all within a minute of each other . There wasn't any light out early this morning to see anything and its parked in the middle of no where until I can get it home to work on it. I'm not sure what the metal was but I beleive the loss of power could be my altenator since the battery isn't even a year old. Any ideas where to start on this one would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you lost your power its most likley your altenator, the belt might of snaped or it fail goodl luck tho but did any other lights come on your dash when you heard the metal thumping? such as brake light and some other light? .

I have driven a car with a bad alternator with a good belt and the car starts to misfire, buck, and lose all engine power before it stops, did your do this? Also check your fuses in the engine bay you may have gotten a power surge while it was dieing.

Sounds like an alternator belt to me.
