ok so I got a trainne for pizza hut in my car with me, and I'm going down the interstate and I notice lose of power in my throttle and a weird smell so I pull off the off ramp car shuts off and won't turn back on :( so I get into a gas station and billowing smoke from under the hood.. white smoke. So I bought coolant put some in pours out the bottom so I think raditior has a hole in it, so then I take the bumper off to get a better look. There's oil in my wheel wells :? Both left and right a decent amount to, but I can't find a oil trail? No where,,, any ideas? Anyone around jacksonvile that can come to westside and give advice/sell parts./help wrench? I'm sitting in subway waiting on a tow truck as we speak,

If you said you put $5k in, and are going to sell it for $1.2k you are taking a huge hit. If I were you, I would just pick up a stock motor for cheap or even just a bottom end in and drop it in (even if you have to save up). I guess you would just have to weigh your options, but I think you could buy a cheap DD and rebuild your engine. I have a beater Honda Accord I bought for $300 bucks, and I am currently using it after my clutch took a dump.

I deliver for pizza hut.

You know what my best decision has ever been?
$800 decision that has been WELL worth it.. i mean hell my laser has been down for about a month now.
235,000 miles, 5 speed, runs perfect

Sounds like your best option would be to find a CHEAP daily that runs decently, go to the bank, and apply for a car loan. If you're just buying a cheap daily to get you through a delivery job you could probably get like a $1-2k loan for 1-2 years, and your payments would be almost non-existant.

If you've got $5k into the car why don't you part some of your parts you don't need right now and buy yourself a beater. I highly doubt you'll have the car sold in 4 days and would be better off selling some parts and keeping the car.

I think this is your best bet man. I just don't see your car selling in 3 days

Dude as long as you don't have any NEGATIVE info on your credit (missed payments, judgements, anything like that) then you shouldn't have a problem getting a small car loan. Find a car on your local craigslist that you like and go to a credit union (Not just any bank) in your area, they are more laid back and willing to loan to people just starting with no/little credit.

I have multiple friends that had absolutely no credit, walked into a credit union locally, and walked out with a car loan. It's the way to go. Also if you're 19 you should be looking into getting a credit card or a car loan to build credit if you ever wanna get your own house or anything like that.

I will go check tommrow my bank is vystar so its a credit union I haven't had a account with them but for like 3 months. But I think its my best bet won't they want to have full coverage on my vechile?

Bank thing is probably a no-go. You said you haven't been at your job very long (banks prefer people who have been at their job for a few years...stability), you're young, which probably means no credit history (which is actually worse than having a bad credit history, believe it or not). 19? If you live on your own, you probably (sorry I'm making so many assumptions here, just going off the norm for most 19 year olds) rent and share with roommates (name may or may not be on the lease), and more than likely haven't been there more than a year (banks prefer you to be at an address for at least 2 years, 5 is better). If you don't rent, then you live at home with your parents, and once again, your name isn't on the lease. You're young, so you probably don't have any collateral that you could secure a loan with. All this adds up to the bank telling you politely but firmly to GTFO. Especially now, while our economy is still in the shitter, banks are not loaning money to anyone except for people with excellent credit, tons of valuable collateral, a secure job, and a large income. Which is F'n hilarious, because if you had all those things, why the F would you need a loan in the first place?

Sorry to rain on your parade, I have family who have worked in banking for years, I can tell you from what I have learned from them that the loan thing is most definitely not going to happen. Sorry for your situation, hope you find a way out of it.

Edit: I'd tell you to go find a "buy here pay here" type used car lot, but the cars they usually have are HORRIBLE, the deals are predatory at best, and again, your credit situation may not even get you approved at one of those places.

www.buymywreck.com says they'll pay $250 for a 97 GST with a blown motor, plus they'll come pick it up from you free of charge. Doubtful you want to go that route, but at least you know you can get $250 for it if worse comes to worse, and that will get you closer to buying an $800 beater for a temporary DD. Hope this helps.

Its a simple way out, someone by my car LOL. And I'm still gonna try the bank thing just because it sounds good and bank is right up the road. And I can't work so might as well. If I get turned down I can just hope someone actually buys the car. If not I lose my job and start back over in the whole,

You will probably get a small loan. My first loan was for $6,000 for a brand new quad. I was 18 and had no credit. And I applied and got approved for the loan in the same day. You shouldn't have any trouble getting $1000-2000 for a vehicle.

You would be surprised Pgarland, I don't know if your family members worked for a national or local bank so I'm just speculating, but Credit Unions really are the way to go and it is worth a try because the worst that can happen is to have them say no.

I just looked on Craigslist in your area for about 10 minutes and found 5 different cars that are in the 1-2k price range, I'll PM the listings to you because I'm not sure what the rules are about posting up listings here.

I also don't know what the relationships between you and your family are like, but if you do have issues getting alone you can always ask someone to co-sign for you as well. A loan for $2k if you have it for even just a two year loan comes to about $83.50 a month (over-estimation of $100/month with interest added in) and insurance on an old Honda shouldn't cost you too much if you have a decent driving record.

I still stand by just parting out things you don't need. They generally sell quick, are worth a decent amount, and will get you back on the road while keeping your car.

I don't agree that you can't get a loan, my dad worked in banking from the age of 18 to up until last year. They're still giving out loans to people with little credit.

:thumb: I agree. Got my first loan at the age of 14 and it was for $5500 for my Tiburon. Granted I had my dad cosign on it, but at the age of 17 I took out another loan for my 3g and added on to my loan at the beginning of this summer for a crotch rocket and was approved before I even came into the bank.

See, it's pretty painless. I didn't even have a co-sign for the quad. I was there for about 30 minutes, and walked out with a brand new quad.

Thanks guys for all the support no matter dsm/not I'm never leaving this fourm I really think I want my next major purchase to be a evo? Anyone got anything to say to that one LOL.

Considering your last concern was that you would have to put full coverage on a beater, I think it might be a while for an Evo. From what I understand, in addition to used ones still having a hefty price tag, they are the most expensive 4cyl car to insure!

Yeah, because you're looking for a reliable beater.. Hondas don't require much to keep em running, and will run forever.. My beater when I delivered was a 1990 4dr DA Integra. I love my DSM to death, but man that car just never died no matter what I did to it. I only ended up selling it because it wasn't safe enough for me to daily with an infant in it haha, and even then I sold it for more than I bought it for!

Oh, and I told you I only spent 10 minutes looking around too.. In the listings in your area that only got me though Hondas. Next would have been Toyotas, once again, you are looking for a beater to deliver pizza in, not a fast car that is gonna break a lot... You already have one of those.

I gotta throw this out there yal every single listing he sent me was a honda. Civics, accords, preludes, LOL

Lets see, delivery drivers want cheap, beater, good gas mileage cars....:aha:

I see zero problems there. :ohdamn:
