hey guys been tryin to help a friend get his gsx running and he has had some problems at first we had it running fine just needed some tuning but one day he went to start it up wen i wasnt there and apparently made a weird noise and car shutoff on him and wouldnt start again. tried to turn the motor over with a breaker bar and wouldnt even budge. so we took the case off and low and behold the oil pump sprocket bolt fell out, it had snapped off completely and pretty sure was making the timing belt bind. anyways he got a new pump and everything and motor turns over fine timing dead on, but wont run for shit and to even idle its like you have to keep the pedal to the floor. anyone have any insight as to what may have happened here. we are at a loss amd cannot figure this car out!

yup bent valves. there is no way the timing stayed aligned without the oil pump sprocket.

on the 4g motors, it seems like the exhaust valves get bent, on the 420a motors its the intake valves.
Im working on a motor now that snapped the balance shaft belt and took out the timing belt. broke one valve and bent the other.
