So i got my car running. Air was leaking out and i found out that the fuel rail was not bolted down evenly. when i push it down the air stops leaking out but the car still wont boost. I rev it up to 7rpm and it still doesn't build boost. I took of the TB to check if it was bad looked good and was shut completely then i noticed there was a bunch of oil in 1g bov and the intake piping. Where could this oil be coming from and why wont it build boost? My header are bolted down tight so is j pipe and everything associated to the turbo. Turbo is mint 14b no shaft play.

Oil is normal with stock PCV and breather hose hooked up. As far not building boost: is your wastegate hooked up and functioning correctly?

I know some oil is ok but its excessive oil....when i took off the pip from TB to upper intercooler pip it lierally poured out about half a cup of oil. How do i check if my wastegate is functioning properly. I'm also trying to find a link to make my own compression and boost leak tester but have had no luck.

Either 1 of 2 problems.

1. The oil seal in the turbo is probally shot. Rebuild or replace.

2. The pvc valve is stuck open and sucking oil into the intake.

There was no oil anywhere near the turbo. No light coating in the j-pipe port and no oil sitting near the turbine. There was also abloutely no oil in the j-pipe. This is weird because there was a ton of oil in the hose connecting to the intercooler, inside the intercooler and all the way up to the TB.....What do you guys think?

Replace your PVC. And then since there was that much in your pipes and nothing on the turbine side, clean out or replace your sidemount intercooler. If there was that much in the pipes, your intercooler is also COATED with oil and sludge.

Also, put a line going from your valve cover (the one you had a picture of in question of what should go there) to your intake pipe. If there isn't an open fitting on your intake pipe, then you can run either a catchcan or a simple breather filter there as a fix for it.

If you want to help eliminate oil sludge build-up in your intake and intercooler pipes you can always install an inline air compressor filter in between the hose that goes from the vc to the intake and another that goes from the pcv valve to the intake manifold.

Thanks guys I actually cleaned out the intercooler and all the piping when i took it apart. But do you guys have any idea where the oil came from. I tested my PCV valve and was in good condition, only let air out in one direction.

was going to post my own thread but search and found ## thread, no thread jack intended... (yesterday) i have the same question also? i found lots of oil in my charge pipes, and little by the turbo and intake side(98 stock gst). black oil like yours, but i just changed my oil so i thought that it can't be recent. how did you clean your intercooler?
thanks!

i capped my intake pipe this morning going to work ### the recirculating tube kept coming out , i left the tube on my bov and got home and oil shot everywhere under the hood .
