oil in my bov, IC, and Tb

today my car startted smoking bad. yesterday i noticed oil in my IC, bov and ic piping. i unhooked the bov and reved engine a few times and oil sprayed out of the bov. at idle the car doesnt smoke. when i 1st start the car it will smoke at idle for a few mins till its warmed up. and when the driving when the turbo spools up and i let off gas and idles down it will smoke out of the tail pipe. when the turbo isnt spooled it dont smoke at normal driving rpms. this link makes me think its my turbo

any input about this problem? im soo close to just selling it to some punk who wants a fast cheap car.

I had a similar problem with my car as well. Would smoke pretty bad when first started but stopped after it was warmed up. Under boost in high rpm's i could see smoke in my rearview mirror. My i/c and pipes and itake were covered with oil and this was on my car with only 63,000 miles on it. I though maybe i had bad seals and my compression was really low so i went ahead and built the whole motor from the ground up. After putting the motor back in the car it still smoked. After changing the o2 sensor and putting in a fresh ported 16g the smoking was gone. I know my car stunk like rotten eggs because of the bad o2 sensor but i am not sure that alone would make it smoke like it was. The oil spitting out of your bov points me in the direction of a bad turbo seal. Do you notice a bad smell coming from your exhaust at idle? If you do change your o2 sensor.

my exhaust smells like rich fuel. no rotten egg smell. strong smelling ehaust that burns my eyes. i alos have alot of blow by.

i wish i could. the turbo on it has absolutly no shaft play and to the untrained eye looks brand new

would a bad turbo cause blow by?

after removing my old turbo there was harldy any shaft play at all but its the seal inside that will make the oil blow out. Mine had a little coolant inside too.

Yes a bad turbo can cause blow by, but so can a valve seal. Do a leak down test and see if a valve seal is bad.

I am guessing i had a bad turbo seal that was why it was blowing through my i/c and intake manifold

im hoping its the turbo and not piston rings or valve seals. ill dump some of that leak stop in it and see what happens

my problem is similar but not to intense.
i have bad valve seats, 0 compression in a cylinder.
the piping, is coated in a thin layer of oil.
do a compression test

what would cause the seals to go bad? the engine has 95k miles on it. when it was installed in my car it didnt smoke at all. 1 day it just started to smoke. prior to thaT the valve cover was cracked and leaked alotta oil out. could the turbo have run dry w/o oil and burned the seales up? today i unhooked the pipe leading to the throttle body and started it up. it sprayed oil all over my windshield.

isn't a rotten egg smell a sign of a bad catalytic converter??? i've never heard that bout a O2 sensor

Check the valve seals, the turbo seals, and your O2 sensors.

95% sure it is your turbo. friend bought a 91 talon for cheap and had the same problem and replaced the turbo and fixed it.

ok 95% sure sounds good to me i got a seller on a turbo ima try to get next weekend to see. i dumped some of that oil no smoke stuff in my engine, the blow by went away

Possibly but I had a brand new hiflo cat on the the car and it still stunk like rotten eggs changed the o2 sensor and was all better. The thing that gave it away was my o2 sensor gauge was going really really slow back and forth at idle and did the same on my logger at idle too.

First off... How old is your turbo? About how many miles are on it?

no more than 95k miles on it but it looks alot newer, i pulled the turbo off today, its definatly the turbo thAT is bad theres a collar/sheet metal guard behind the compressor wheel (looks like a collar exact name unknown at this time) and its all loose . im may rebuild it its a 13g turbo and the rebuild kit is $104. right now i bypassed my turbo since its not on i covered the hole where the turbo bolts to the compressor housing with that c clamp with an end of a can. i hooked the air intake with the maf directly to the throttle body car runs and dont smoke at all without the turbo hooked up.
