I went out to my Car and tried to start it and got nothing. First thing i did was looked at the factory boost gauge and cel all checked out fine. Next i checked the starter relay, the ignition fuse, the battery fuse, and disconnected the clutch switch and still nothing. I figured it was the starter so me and my friend pushed it down the hill and it started that way. Got the new starter in And it still did not start. So we got the good ol volt meter out and tested the terminals on the starter. The hot lead read 13 and the other one read 0 even when trying to start it; although you can feel the solenoid moving in its casing. We recently installed a wb and moved the maf close to the tb. I also have a turbo timer btw. Any thoughts because me and my friends are out of ideas :banghead:
Thanks,
Austin

ya, its just brain is telling me the yellow and black runs to the starter, then all the sudden he tells me the red and black runs to the starter also. I just don't know what wire goes where now. According to the circuit diagram the tracer wire comes in contact with another relay before going to the starter.

Well hes got a newer year and they might be different but he might be right i will check tomarrow.

My starter is the black and red and your voltage is th same as mine. I did it real fast so i might be wrong. You just need to find if its grounded out by a split wire and make sure you battery is full and try to crank her. Have you charged it after you clutch is powered up. It might be to low to power the starter enough.

i can start it manually by jumping the starter. Would that still not be enough power?

EDIT: so the red/blk wire goes out to your starter solenoid plug? its not yellow/blk?
and your results were the same as mine?

Yes red and black unless the guy before me changed it. And where are you jumping it at. F4om the wires or directly at the starter?

And did it have continuity with it unplugged from the starter? Its just this wire that dangles down that has 12v on start. there is a pic on the first page.

Its insulated with clear rubber, but its open so you could put a wire in it.

There should be another wire there, if it was an extra it would be capped. Look for the other wire. That could be whats grounding out, thats whats probably keeping you from turning over. But if your starter is extending but not spinning would tell me its not getting enough power. Try to find the other wire.

green/black not grounded. fixed this from being grounded with the clutch in to not being grounded.

Gremlins are messing with my car. It's the only thing possibly left.

Red/blk - no voltage due to what ever issue there is.
yellow/blk - has continuity to the other end of the wire, no shorts. 12v
white/black - 12v
green/black - not grounded.

All this is right according to the diagram and yet it still won't start. just clicks which means the relay is stopping the starter from activating.

What is the minimum amps needed to have the car start? could amperage have something to do with this?

Did you check and make sure the plug was still on the pedal for the clutch pressure switch to hit? I had this happen on another car of mine and the plug had broke so it thought the clutch wasn't depressed.

Most cars need 12.4 volts to crank over if I remember... When the system is running the volts should be like 13.3-13.8 when the system is charging...:hmm:
