My 98 eclipse 6 bolt swapped with a eprom ecu dsm link v3. i went through emissions and it couldn't connect to the ecu. Wouldn't communicate with the emissions equipment. It has.power going to the plug I checked that. But now I am at a loss. Can't figure out why it wouldn't.communicate I even used a scanner myself it's not.communicating with the monitors...anyone can help me out with this problem?

90% chance ECU is bad.
...but I'm 100% sure you're taking a guess which is wrong btw. :thumb:

Connect with a laptop into ECMLink and go to the Misc. tab. There you will find a box that's checked that says "Lock comms in ECMLink mode", un-check it. Then drive to the emissions station and they will be able to test for the readiness checks.

I need to get that.. my ECU I know is good, but I should pull it and see if its EPROM because I am pretty sure I do not have a rev limiter (I hit 7100 rpm once and wont ever do it again).

Edit: Just did 10 minutes of researching and see the stock rev limit is 7.5k and fuel cut is 7.6

Ecu is fine. Cel comes on from the knock sensor and it's been tuned thanks gofer tour the man. I'll give it a shot and post back with my result

Not a problem, that box is checked by default when you connect with ECMLink. That means after you un-check that box and disconnect your laptop you'll be able to get an OBD reader to connect. But once you connect again with ECMLink it will automatically check that "ECMLink comms lock" box so everytime you need to get a standard OBD reader hooked up besure to un-check that box first.

Very good tip to know..I will be hookin it up this week to uncheck that box and see if it worked. Thanks again

You can confirm obd communication before you go for your i/m emissions test by hooking up a scanner or code reader & see if you have data displayed. I have my 2G locked in comm mode. I think locking in comm mode also prevents the readiness monitors from setting to ready(mine alyways display as not ready every time).

Is this just with dsmlink or is it the same for Evoscan because once I log with it and try to pull codes(it never works) the port wont connect to any scanner.

Eligst what I did did not work I unchecked the box and it still said system read error.on the scan tool
Although this shop did fix it but won't tell me.how they did it. They unchecked that box like I did before and then changed two other settings and it worked...wish they would of told.me.what they did to help you guys. All I can say is do you live in ct??

Dang it. I know if you uncheck it and do not connect it, it should be fine. but it needs to be cycled. Anyways, I cannot figure out how to get it to connect either. And sorry brother, across the country in California. ha
