my scanner wont link to my obd2 port, neither will my dsm link???

tried plugging in my dsm link in to my dtc port couldnt connect, i naturally thought it was my cable but used it on my buddies everything was fine, then took my code reader and plugged it in and it couldnt link to the vehicle...any ideas???

the person who owned it before you screwed something up, i know somone else who has the same problem, you need to just start following wires and checking them. sorry bro its a bi***
