obd2 taurus question....

hey my g/f's car (97 ford taurus GL) is throwing codes and i need to know where the hookup is for the reader.. anyone know where? thanks in advance

Driver Side.. around the bottom part of the dash, just below your knees. You'll have a plug you can plug it into. My guess is going to be the EGR code, which all you need is the pressure sensor and your code is gone. Don't let some asshat at AutoZone sell you the EGR valve, you don't need it.

Hes correct on the hook up and where it is. If it is a EGR code like he said, go to a ford dealer and get a DPFE (Differential Pressure Feedback for EGR). It is almost never your EGR valve, the DPFE is one of the most common failures on taurus's.

cool thanks i found it.. lucky for me my dad had a obd2 reader and so i just deleted the codes myself.. for some reason the coil pack misfired on cylinder 1 and 5.. but worked perfectly after i deleted its memory.. computer error? odd WTF oh well.. thanks for the help.. sorry mods for the off topic

Damn I could've swore it would've been the EGR. Just about every Sable/Taurus we get in throws that exact same code. Oh well.

Taurus's are junk. But while were on the topic of them does anyone know where the crank sensor is located and how hard it is to change. Car has a terrible misfire and when I took it for emissions the codes it threw were for the crank sensor.
