hi tuners. my question was that im was looking in getting an 02 housing but my question is. one recerculating one or to atmosphere. whats the advantages and disadvantages and whats a good one to get.

For emissions areas, a "dump tube" (atmospheric) will fail visual inspection. But it cuts the turbulance at the exducer of the turbo caused by wastegate gases. The next choice for most of the benefits of the dump tube is a divorced wastegate tube. This dumps the wastegate gases in further downstream. Eliminates the turbulence and satisfies emissions requirements. Then you have the stock o2 housing. Great for stock or slightly higher power levels, but might cause boost creep at high wastegate flow.

What Blue Talon boy said is correct but I'll add this open dump sounds great and if you are looking at a aftermarket housing id go with one for an externel gate.

I think that all depends on the state. Some will fail you, others won't. I passed CT emissions without any issues; even though my dump tube is pretty obvious; and everyone I know around here with open dumps pass without any issue.

Like reddragon1 said - I love the sound of the open dump, esp. at higher boost levels when you're flowing a lot through it.

Don't get me wrong, I live in an emissions area, and I'm running a dump tube. I love the sound of it. Butt dyno tells me that its faster at high rpm.

At higher boost pressures you are bypassing less exhaust gasses around the turbine, so you are actually flowing less exhaust gas through the dump tube as you increase boost....
