o2 housing dump/screamer pipe question

It will be loud. When the wastegate opens the unmuffled sound of the engine comes out the small pipe. Whether it will be louder or quieter than other brands/lengths, I doubt you would notice a difference between any of them. They're all equally obnoxious. LOL

And for what it's worth, I've creeped to 15psi on a s16g with an eBay open dump O2 housing. I got sick of the noise so I installed an eBay recirculated O2 and still crept to the same 15psi. So obviously I'm a firm skeptic on their effectiveness.

Hi all. Just a general question, I'm looking at a o2 housing to help eliminate boost creep, also the sound of it is a pretty good bonus. I was wondering if the length equals louder sound also if you could look at the link and tell me if it will make a loud sound I guess. thanks in advance

mine is loud as crap and pretty much the exact same one. Mine did not prevent my boost creep like i was hoping.

Thanks for the input, as for sound, I love how they sound but as far as boost creep goes.. any tips to get rid of it? on my 16g I'm running 10psi, creeping to around 15psi. I"m running a recirculated 02 housing with full apexi N1 exhaust

I am having the same problem. My only tip would be to port the wastegate flapper opening and the entire port. I will be porting that location soon in hopes of fixing it.

Have you ever heard one in person before? They sound a lot different than on youtube. I had one for a couple of months on a 16g at 15psi and it continued to creep. Plus you hear it all the time because the 16g spools so fast. It's a lot different then say a 50 trim at 25psi. Just some food for thought.

The open dump surprises the hell out of people when you go to make a pass or get on the freeway. If your easy on the throttle, then it isn't loud. Everyone has their own views on this. It will also help deter people from wanting to play if you make a short pull.

If your creeping to 15 psi you might wanna try another boost gauge. I know mine was reading 18 psi on a stock 14b with the bcs still in place and no mbc, returned it and got a new one that was showing 12 psi. might not be creep, might just be a bad boost gauge.

Opening the wastegate port should fix the boost creep issue. Open dump on internally gated 16G sounds horrible. However an externally wastegated 16G off an O2 housing sounds different, not as loud.

Yup, makes the car sound like a really loud weed whacker. Not at all attractive, in my opinion. You will be listening to it a lot with a 16g too... and accidentally letting it open in front of a cop is a great way to get pulled over.

I am not sure why everyone has problems staying out of boost. I have to want it to open in order for it to open. I will never hit full boost by accident. Plus i think it sounds mean. If it is annoying for people, then dont hit FULL boost. It makes the car sound like a monster and i have no problem keeping it quiet when i want. I made an integra almost swerve off the road when i showed him a little in 3rd gear. :tease: All in what you like i guess. Attracts attention, some people like attention, others dont. In my small town everyone loves it.

After a while O2 dumps get old or maybe I'm just old.

I had one on my car at first with the stock turbo and then the 14B. However with the 16G it's a recirculated O2 now.

It is a matter of preference... I have nothing against an open dump, but I'd get more tickets than a kid at Chucky Cheese's with one here. Personally, I just welded in a cut out on the 90 before the flex pipe. It doesn't really help with creep, but it's a hell of a lot louder than an open dump if you want to scare the crap out of someone next to you. Put it on a loaded latch and you can open and shut it whenever you want, and it does give it a little more kick... Not much, but it is enough to notice.

The boost creep is mainly from the constriction at the wastegate flapper. Port it out and it should reduce it more than an open dump will.
