I had some problems with my old turbo engine because the previous owner did not do proper maintainance. Now the thing is, I purchased a 90 Eagle Talon NT. I'm going to put in the whole engine into my Turbo car. Is there anything I need to look out for? Anything I may need to change? I'm getting new turbo pistons, and considering putting in the turbo cams of my old engine as well.

NOTE: This is not a NT to Turbo conversion... My car is turbo, Im just putting in a NT Engine.

Will the NT Engine in my Turbo car cause any problems? What about performance?

Oblivion here is a website where you can find a low-mileage 4g63t motor for your 2g. It might just cost the same as trying to swap in the n/t motor and getting it to work. RoyalJapaneseMotors.com JDM Top quality, high performance JDM Engines.jdm motors

It's really good. These motors come with harness and all. It will save you all these headaches. Direct drop in :thumb:

He's got a 91 gst??? And the n/t would be cheaper to install then one of those j-spec motors. 1900 for a j-spec 6bolt...sheesh I got my 1g 7bolt for 550 with only 40k miles (went to the guys house and actually saw the odometer).

Yea, that is too expensive . . . and unwarranted considering there is no 1990 "j-spec 4g63". There's no block differences between jdm 4g63s and usdm 4g63s.

I paid 350 for my brothers N/T 6 bolt LONGBLOCK: 1g head, 1g intake manifold, all sensors on the head, fuel rail, coil pack, power transistor, wiring harness, and block. I spent under $50 getting the turbo pistons swapped to the beautiful 500 whp capable 6 bolt rods found in the n/t block. $40 for a headgasket. $88 for oem style iron rings. $40 for new rond bearings (but the old ones were just fine). And swapped the intake cam.

Total = $530 for a fresh rebuilt 6 bolt turbo block!

I do not have a 2g, I have a 1991 Eclipse GS-T. And it would definitly be ALOT cheaper to continue what I'm doing because... The car should be up and running this weekend. What I did is: took the N/T Engine (Block & Head), put in some new turbo pistons, put in the turbo rods, put in the turbo cams... And slapped it onto my Eclipse GS-T. Hopefully no problems will arise. I just wanted to know if there is anything I should be worried about since the head and block came from a 1990 N/T Talon.

Well if you read his post, you'll see that he has a 1g, not that it makes that much of a difference, and also, he has everything he needs in front of him. It's just a matter of swapping parts over.

What about all of the other parts mentioned here? Knock sensor? Oil filter housing? Oil pan? Etc.? Some of these would be obvious (no oil return tube hole on the oil pan makes that part of installation a problem ;)), but the knock sensor might not be in there, and you need that.

All of this talk about cheap 1g N/T motors makes me want to go buy one to build up over the next year as I can afford a nickle here and dime there.:coy:

Do you mean swap from the N/T to the Turbo Eclipse? I thought I wouldnt need to swap them from the N/T to the Turbo Eclipse since the Eclipse has these parts (doesnt it?). Now I'm confused.

Just an aclaration... The injectors, tb, and cams will come from my Eclipse GS-T. The Turbo Pistons are brand new.

You need to have the oil pan swapped as well as the oil filter housing from your turbo block. And have the knock sensor put into the n/t block.

Well, I'm sure his mechanic saw the turbo drain line and didn't just let it dangle. And I'm sure he saw the turbo water lines which lead to seeing differences between the oil filter housing... Maybe, I'm assuming too much :) .

But if he's not a DSM mechanic, he may find that out tomorrow morning, Oblivion2 gets another bad news phone call, and his car is in the shop a few more days. I'm just trying to nip things in the bud, so to speak. He's had enough suprises for one car...even a DSM.LOL

So true! I guess it would be best to tell the mechanic, and any one wanting to use an n/t block in their turbo car, swap in ONLY the bare block with crank, b shafts, oil pump, and piston rods itself with the turbo pistons. Use everything else in the turbo car's engine bay.

Now I'm really gettin scared. I hope my mechanic is as good as DSM-Onster supposes him to be. I do not want more bad news!!!

Well anyway, there is just one day left, and there isnt much I can do since I study away from my home-town... Tomorrow I go to my home-town, but I get there at night... But Saturday, I'll let you guys know what happened. If you see another "Bad News" post, then you know what happened. :(

<fingers crossed> I hope it all goes well! Can't wait to have my DSM! :rocks:

Just to be sure what I'm going to ask...

[ ] Did you swap the turbo drain line, turbo water line, oil filter housing, oil pan from the Turbo Car?

[ ] Did you put in the KNOCK SENSOR in the N/T Block?

Anything else?
