some one told me if you turbo a 1g nt engine i would have more problems out of the engine than crankwalking

I just recently put in an N/T engine 2.0L 4G63 (head and block) into my Turbo Eclipse. The only thing I had to do was get turbo pistons, turbo cams, and swap a few parts. Though this case is different, since my whole car is turbo, I didn't have to buy the lines, the turbo setup, etc. If what you have is a full N/T car, then you may want to reconsider doing the N/T to Turbo conversion. It may not be worth the money, time, or effort.

What will the car be for? A daily drive? Or Race?

There are alot of differences the turbo motor has oil squirters under the pistons, you will have to change the fuel pump to run any kind of boost, water pipe, thermostat housing, oil pan, you need oil lines, ecu after buying all of that you could have easily bought yourself a turbo motor. I was going to do the same thing but i priced everything and it just wasnt worth it.
hope i could be some help

+1 not to mention you will have to lower the compression if you are planning on running any decent amount of boost:rocks:

Huh, the usual non-answers for the most part.

Yes, you can boost a 1gnt on the stock pistons, but you will have to keep the boost very low. Make sure to do a real conversion rather than a DIY install like 2gnt'ers. 1gnt's don't have knock sensors, and it would be unwise to boost without one. (2gnt's do have knock sensors.) Part of the conversion includes adding a knock sensor.

Ask mavisky about his turbo conversion, or look at the write ups to see what is involved in a full conversion.

ok well i have a 97 gst and i got a new 1g engine i have put the knock sensor in and all other parts like alt.ps.tb.ect.....and i was told that was the number one rule in the dsm world that you dont turbo a 1g nt engine........but thinks for the help
