In my 95 the rear speakers don’t produce any sound, I’ve checked the connections at the speakers once before and it was solid. Polarity was correct and the speakers are aftermarket kickers so I know they’re not old and bad. What would cause this issue other than the wiring at the head unit possibly being incorrect or disconnected? I ask because I have the same issue on my other 95 except the rears work and fronts don’t.

I have not pulled the head unit but after owning the car for over a year I’ve decided today was the day I’d try to fix this problem since I’m done modding the engine for now.

Look under passenger seat and check to see if theres a factory amp. Also is this factory radio or aftermarket. I work at a mobile audio shop just need to verify a few things. What about the tweeters on the dash are they playing? If factory radio and amp then possibly amp is going out and needs bypassed or maybe it's just physically not wired right if it's an aftermarket head unit sorry for a long response but thank you for your time, Jason Penny

After looking through the wiring it was hooked up correctly to the factory amp and everything, it turned out that in my head unit setting after a reset it has an option for the rear speakers which is full or SW (subwoofer) set it to full and bam! It sounds amazing man. I’ve never seen this option before but it worked.

I'm assuming you have a Pioneer or Kenwood deck, as some of the yesteryear decks from them had options like that. Glad you got it sorted tho!

If you ever need to test your wiring, take a battery, any battery, and touch what you think are the ground and hot wires for the speaker. If it makes noise with a battery attached LIGHTLY and just for a second or two, then the speaker is good. If NO sound, you have the wrong wires or the speaker is dead.
Just an old tip from an old guy!
Jason is the audio dude!!!

Thank you for the tip man! That sounds easier than removing the rear interior panel like I did LOL

Oh for sure!!

May I add to @1990TSIAWDTALON comment ... You can use a nine volt battery to check if the speaker is good and it`s polarity . If you are just testing to see if the speaker is any good you will hear a pop / scratchy noise from the speaker and it does not matter witch terminals are used. To test for correct polarity ....take the positive wire from the nine volt battery and touch to either speaker terminal , then hook up the ground ..if your speaker pushes up you have it correct ..if it sucks down you have the polarity wrong . This will let you know what wire is positive coming from the speaker if it`s connections are not marked ..

That is EXACLY how I test mine, with a good ole 9 volt and whatever voltage it has left in it :thumb:
