Newbie to dsms

Hey guys I'm gonna be looking in the next three months for a fun car. I've been tossing around a few ideas and its either drop 2-3k on a down payment on a Rex. Or try to find a decent shaped dsm.

From what I've been reading is the 1g less likely to get CW am I right?
Would 2-3k get me running Turbo dsm?
Would 250-300 HP be a safe number on a stock block?
Does adding a beefy clutch increase the chances of cw?

1) Depends on who you ask. Realistically yes.
2)It should. Multiple members here have gotten project cars for under $1k, running driving examples should be around for $2-3k, depending on your area.
3)150 poorly tuned hp can blow your engine. Conversely the oem internals of a 4g63have been known to hold 600+ hp. It has a lot to do with your tuning and methods
4)Most people would say no. However, I personally would suspect that 30-50% more pressure laterally on a crank has to have some effect on its wear.

CW is over rated. Dont even worry about it. A stock block can hold your 300hp easily. You can get yourself a nice 1g for $3k.

Rex is short for subaru wrx .

But for power goal of 300whp is fine on stock block that's is what I have and only spent about $2000 on everything run's and drives perfect just do your maintanance and do balance shaft delete.Plus it's way more funner woopin suby's.

I would not say that. I owned a wrx before and they can move to. My wrx with just turbo back, uppipe, intake silencer delete and stage 2 tune made 245whp. Added intercooler, 255 wally, sti sticks, evo 3 16g and hit 300 like nothing.

Just keep in mind that your average 1g is 20 years old and full-o-rust if it's from the New England area. There's still a few nice 1g's around. None that go for that price though.
