I am wanting to upgrade my stock t-25 turbo for something better and ive looked up to try to find the right one but i get so many different answers just wanted to see what would be the best on. I was thinking of a 14b or a big 16g!! Let me know what yall think.

I was thinking of about 350ish area and about 1700 for a turbo and intercooler. Not worried about the money part though.

what kinda fmic would be good i was looking at a dejon set up. Are you talking about a big 16g are just a 16g.

For an intercooler, just get the cheap ssautochrome intercooler kit for 300 bucks. That is one of the best that you can get for these cars.

For 350 hp you get a small 16g, big 16g, or e316g. All will get you there. Couple that with a VRSF FMIC and you are under budget and over your goal (assuming you already have the supporting mods). Buy a used turbo and you will have even more cash leftover.

  • T-25 - <25 lbs/min (235-250hp)
  • 14b - 30 lbs/min (275-300hp)
  • S16g - 34 lbs/min (345/365hp)
  • B16g - 36 lbs/min (365/385hp)
  • E316g - 39 lbs/min (385/400hp)
These ratings are estimates. Of course any of these turbos can be pushed harder as evidenced by the DSMtuners Dyno Challenge:
  • 14b - 324hp
  • S16g - 399hp
  • B16g - 451hp
*These numbers are the highest listed and therefore not what the turbos are rated for or what the average DSMer should expect.

I posted most of this on this thread which is very similar to what you are asking: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/424558-14b-16g-2.html#post152845423

What do you have to tune the car with? What's your fuel setup? You might want to consider upgrading these things first, and pray that Mitsu turbos come down in price in the mean time. Then upgrade to an MHI Evo 3 16g. It's a great turbo to learn on.

I disagree, there are much better intercoolers out there. Take ETS for example, there fin design is superior to an ssautochrome core. The ssautochrome is still a decent budget setup, but far from the best.

As other people pointed out, you may want to look into getting supporting mods like ECMlink and fuel before you jump into a larger turbo.

It seems like many people forget about fuel and tuning when it comes to upgrade turbos. I have the small 16 and like it. The big 16 loses efficiency at high boost. Depending on your tuning device I would get 650cc injectors with a Wally 255 ad afpr.

Im thinking of going with the s16g, so would those injectors work?

WTF

Maybe if you're running 26 psi through the thing. Efficiency loss from a turbo can be mitigated through proper intercooling (better endtanks, more efficient core etc). More airflow is more airflow.

You won't need more than 550's for any 16g sized turbo, but if you're running DSMlink, slap a set of 1000cc injectors in there, and have plenty of overhead.

I agree with above statements. Do fuel mods and Link first so you can get a feel for things. Then swap in the 16g and call er' a day!
