First off I want to say whatsup everyone, pretty nice forums after I have searched around a bit.
Lol Im sorry my first post is a question or a plead for help unfortunately.
Alothough Im loving this DSM Car, A 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD, its been throwing some problems with me.

The AfterMarket Gauge is reading extremely rich, unfortunately its all the way on the rich side as far as it will go(however Im starting to think it may be inaccurate). However I did fail emmissions, so its possible its not a total lie.

The readings were as followed

Now my Goal Right now is to pass emissions, so then I can tune it up and Start Modding it out!
However after
-Replacing the old Platinum sparks with NGK Copper ones
-Replaced Spark Wires
-New Valve Gasket(as well as a copper sealant)
-Took out the KnN air filter and put in a more restrictive one

The aftermarket A/F gauge still reads the same..

Unfortunately there is still much I need to learn about this car, because we got it at an auction and it has already been modded out with things such as Aftermarket A/F Gauges, Turbo Pressure Gauge, New Rims, Exhaust(High Flo Cat is welded on), After Market AlarmSystem(Not likin that), KnN air Filter, etc.
I say etc because I honestly dont know how much this car has actually been modded out.

So yeah I have no clue what to do now. I see a hairline crack(really small) on the exhaust manifold but i dont think its enough to make it that rich.
White Smoke Did come out the exhaust earlier today, no clue why, maybe a bad head gasket or somethin.

Lol thats why I have come to the great minds here on this forum.
Any suggestions?

O if you guys need any pictures let me know.

None of those things you quoted will make it run rich, since its modded it probably has an aftermarket bigger fuel pump, maybe bigger injectors. Do you see a afpr or fuel controller? If you don't know what I'm talking about, get some pictures of inside, and the engine bay.

BTW, I wouldn't run it untill you can figure out some of your problems, bigger fuel pump, injectors will cause it to run rich, depending how rich it is, it can wash out rings, spin bearings lock engines.

more restrictive air filter will make it more rich. the more air flow you can get, the more it will lean out that fuel mixture. check for air leaks on the intake or exhaust leaks around the 02 sensor. you did say there was a hairline crack. might be enough to suck in air, but not leak, idk. i wouldnt know about how to check for if it has bigger injectors or fuel pump. i think the stock injectors have blue on them.

Readings from the Emmisions

And Ill post pictures as soon as possible, unfortunately someone jacked the camera and wont be back till later on tonight. They should be up as soon as possible

Oh well not too sure, what I can tell you as well is that there is aftermarket intercooler, which shouldnt really affect it running rich right?

And thanks for answering this question with such haste everyone, I really appreciate it

More air= leaner

More fuel= richer

The best thing to do is figure out exactly what you have as far as mods. The stock injectors have blue tops, unless they are 2g black tops. Alot of things can create a "rich" condition. I had a faulty 02 that caused me to run a little rich on a pontiac. But it seems your car is really rich, I suspect something to do with an aftermarket mod. Unfortunatley I can't point you in the right direction untill you figure out what you have.

def check your injectors fuel pump check to see if you have an afpr or some fuel controller or invest in an safc or dsm link to tune the injectors

Heres a Gallery of all the shots I took, theres about 34 of them.
If you need a closer look at something dont hesitate to ask.

And I just bought a book about the engine yesterday, and Im learning some pretty interesting things about this motor. Its a really knowledgeable book and I would definitely recommend it to you all.
"How to Build Max Performance Mitsubishi 4g63t Engines"

Im going to assume i have a high flowing catco cat simply because of the size and its welded on.
The fuel injectors from what we seen are stock, maybe a problem there if I have a larger fuel pump.

The ECU I am not sure of, how would I go about checking that?

O spoolin18 here are the gauges

Sweet car other than the straps on the front. How many miles is on it and did you get a good price on it?

Well, I can't tell if you have injectors or not, but I did see a adjustable fuel pressure regulator and fuel gauge. Can you tell what your base fuel pressure is? Start it up and look at the fuel gauge under the hood.

I definitely dont see anything like that inside the car. Lol the aftermarket stereo system face plate is even missing.
Yeah the fuel injectors are stock.

Thanks yeah we got it for lil under a thousand with about 140,000 miles on it at an auction actually, the straps were put on there by us unfortunately, whoever had the car previously had installed that fmic , however I guess it was too big, and the bumper was due to fall off.

We really lucked out on it.

I wish I had got mine for under a $1,000.00.:applause: It could have a thing called dsm link or ecm link, which is a way to tune everything on it from timing to fuel. But it would have to have an Eprom computer instead of a regular ecm. Read over this link and see if it helps identify what ecm you have. I wouldn't take apart the ecm, it can be easily damaged. I'm trying to help you see if you have a way of tunning it, so it won't run rich. I did see a aeromotive afpr and gauge. Read a little of this link since you know you don't have a safc.

On your images, count from the first top image, count to the 10th picture. That needs to be fixed, just loosen the clamp and pull the rubber connector up over the lip on the pipe and retighten it.

Also look at the 4th image on the top row, try and straighten the pipes and where they connect togather. A boost leak can escape in the most tiny spots.

But, I don't think a boost leak would cause it to run that rich at idle. But you should make sure you have no boost leaks anyways. They can cause several problems.

Thanks for all the great tips, im going through them now.
Also the fuel pressure gauge reads around 30psi if that helps anyone.

I noticed a few things in the pics you posted and looks like you need to go over the whole engine bay and check for more wiring issues.

In this picture when you zoom in the throttle close switch isn't hooked and where is your throttle cable? All I see if 2 zip ties holding what looks to be a cable of some type.

In this pic you can clearly see the AFPR. Make sure it is adjusted properly. The guage should read around 37psi with the vacuum line off and plugged with your finger. Also is the power steering belt missing?

That's all I can really tell from those pics. As far as your running rich problems it'll be kinda hard to diagnose without any type of logger. How much boost is it running? Start off with a boost leak test as some of the couplers look questionable. Try to take a close up shot of the injectors so we can determine if they are aftermarket or stock. Also take a pic of inside the MAF where the honeycombs are so we can see if it's been if it's been hacked. All in all I'd say you got a decent deal on the car. Just don't be in to much of a rush to drive it. It does need some work and it'll test your patients but it'll be worth it in the end.

+1 good post, there is several problems I see, nothing major but you're right he shouldn't drive it untill he can figure it out.

Thanks alot. To answer your questions.
I do have stock injectors(blue tops), and the MAF isnt hacked.

NEWER GALLERY
Another Gallery, alot shorter, better view of Fuel injectors, etc.

Would this really be much of a problem though? I mean if fuel delivery system is stock, and the only thing thats really changed in the engine is the Aftermarket fpr, and intercooler, is there really a need for a hacked maf? The car is probably pushing a little over 210 horsepower so shouldnt alot of the stock parts be able to take it.
