As the title states I'm new the this whole dsm stuff. I'm very familiar with it. And very familiar with the car scene as I'm a former cobalt ss owner. It was a fast daily driver and I sure do his her. I wanted something small that I could make a project. So I purchased a 97' eclipse gs. It's slammed and doesn't run the greatest. But I'm gonna change it all completely. Classy of course. As it's pretty rice for my liking right now. But anywho I'm looking forward to this new dsm stuff LOL

You will be disappointed performance-wise with the 420a motor, unless your Cobalt was SC'ed...

But if you are just wanting a comfortable, reliable, good looking DD, a GS is hard to beat.

It was supercharged. Dyno'd at 330hp tons done. But I'm not looking for anything super fast. Just mildly fun. I can always swap motors ha

To date, I know of 2 successfully completed 420a->4g63 swaps.

420s handle boost fairly well, so Itd probably be better to go that route if power is what you're looking for.

Well actually, you kinda can't. It's virtually impossible for the average DIYer. The engine and trans are 180° of the 4G63. Your best bet for performance is to look into the NT tech forums. Turbo builds are common and some people have had measurable gains on all motor. The best bang for buck is turbo though.
