What's up guys, got another question here on my 97 Eclipse GST. Just replaced starter and ignition switch relay, sadly the car still won't start. You can here the starter turning over but no start. What do you guys think it could be? Damaged flywheel is the last thing I need it to be right now, the battery is good as well brand new.

Solution
Either you have the wrong starter or the ring gear is no longer in the correct position.

Damn. Thank you I'll see what I can do about that probably get it back to the shop and take her apart, SCITOO Starter Motor 17217 was the starter I bought for it

So I posted earlier about getting no crank after ordering new starter that was said to be compatible with the 97 eclipse gst SCITOO Starter Motor 17217, we'll let's just say I should've did more research before ordering because it is infact not compatible with the manual turbo trans only automatic which makes me happy that its the wrong one and still have hope she'll turn over with the right new one but feel a little dumb not doing research before hand 😅thank you guys for the help...

Give us the whole story.

So the starter motor spins but the gear isn't engaging?
Yes sir. I can hear it spinning but the car won't turn over. I was out of town at my pops car wouldn't start noticed my ignition relay was broken so I replaced it got the car to start up drove 30 minutes back home stopped at the gas station right next to house for some gas, gassed up and boom car just wouldn't crank so I thought maybe it's the starter, ordered a new one replaced it went to crank it up again and still wouldn't start. I can hear the starter spinning but I'm pretty sure its not grabbing or else it would've starter right ?

That flywheel will work. I've used worse on some old domestic stuff years ago. Best of luck with the proper starter.
