I'm starting a new 6 bolt build and would like some input on new and used oil pumps. In the past I've re used my old oil pump with success after refurbishing it. I always clean the galleys well, intall new seals, inspect for warpage and cracks, inspect gears, gear and balance shaft housings. i also use an oem balance shaft stub. My question is do many of you do this and have success with it in the long run? I'm deciding if i should rebuild another pump or shell out for a new oem pump? Thanks in advance for your input!

With me it all depends,on what I am building. If it is just a cheap stock rebuild than I will reuse the pump if it is in good shape. If I am say building a forged bottom end for a customer, it will be a new pump every time. It's really up to you though. If the pump is in good shape than it will last a long time.

If the front case techs out, it will be fine for reuse.

To me the OFH needs closer inspection than the front case since it has the oil bypass valve.

I just replaced mine the front case had broken but I just greased up my gears and put them in and, everything is all good as im breaking the engine, you may want to check the gears to make sure there in good shape while your there and clean the oil filter housing.
