we have just done a engine swap. Head was rebuilt and a 2.4l 4g64 block was put in. I used the proper 4g64 cam gears like i was told. Car starts up but struggles to stay running. To test what cylinders were igniting we started pulling plugs while running. Cylinders 2 and 3 were not getting spark at the proper timing. They WERE GETTING spark but not at the right time. They are getting fuel as well because when the spark plugs ignite you can hear pre ignition which doesnt happen when the plugs are pulled. I have the 1g cas in my 1995 car and am stumped. I had recently swapped transistors and coil packs before the engine through the rod and that helped the problems of missing under load that i was seeing back when that problem was happening. I dont know what to do and have verified timing over and over again. I did just get dsmlink as well and am not sure if there is a setting i need to change under dsmlink to fix this problem.

yup i have the plugs 100% correct too. Its gotta be something like the CAS transistor or coil packs? Anyone agree or disagree and have any way of finding out besides process of elimination

switched coil packs out today and all 4 cylinders fire but the car still wont run right. Cam timing seems to be off but i used the 4g64 gears and everything is perfectly timed. Now why are we supposed to use the 4g64 gears instead of the 4g63. It doesnt make any sense to me and the car seems to be out of time because of it. Does anyone know if i am supposed to actually keep the 4g63 gears?

im not just going to switch cam gears back if there was a reason to run these. Im wanting to verify this by an expert so i dont ruin my newely rebuilt head or new block. It definitely has something to do with timing, and the two timing related components are the cam gears and the cas. CAS worked before so im thinking its definitely the timing. Can anyone show me what there 2.4l looks like at tdc. Please post a picture of your cams at tdc. Also both cam gears are the same part number, they are not any different like the stock intake or exhaust cams. Anyone know if this is correcT?

well one way to see if its the wires or pack is switch wires if not unplug each wire from plug with car on if it arcs than the coil is good and so is your wire.

could be your sings are messed up so if letting so much pressure out you dont get a good combustion.

but this honestly gana be a process of elimination till you hit it on the head.
