yea valve cover comes off install cam sensor and wire it in according to vfaq.com

thank you so very much for the help, and you also helped me understand it more. but 1 more q. for you, when i put the original ecu from this car in my other, the car wont go past 3,500 rpm? is the ecu bad? cause with the stock ecu for the 97 back in, it runs perfect, the car does

PROBLEM RESOLVED
i did per vfaq on thge 1g cas sensor and the car purrs like a kitten
thank you chadnum, if i knew how to reccomend you for rep points..........LOL

Congrats joe on the fix only now I'm hoping the wisemen can chime in on my issue.

I ordered a brand new 2g CAS and installed it but I can't start the car now, all it does is turn over.

If I unplug the CAS the car starts without a problem and runs on 2 cylinders pretty darn good but as soon as I plug in the CAS the car dies.

yea, i wish i could help you as you helped me:p

Could this be caused by the trigger plate being "turned" like if it was removed from the camgear and put back in the wrong place?

Reason I ask is because my old cam gear had cracks in it so I bought a used one and I doubt that it has been shifted but if that's the cause then I'll go ahead and fix that. I just don't want to have to remove the t-belt for the 4th time unless someone can tell me for sure that that is the issue.

Well this is embarrassing. So before realizing that I actually need to have a CAS installed in the car I was troubleshooting to find out why only 2 cylinders were firing and when I switched the wiring to the coils I didn't switch them back. Switched them back and she woke right up!

what engine are we talking about, i haveca 420a in my 95 eclipse gs that has the same issue except all sensors, ecu, and engine has been rebuilt, only thing that has not been done is replace entire wiring harness... any ideas other than replacibg tge entire harness?
