I have tried two different coil packs with the same results. Not getting any spark to cylinders 2 and 3. I have a 6 bolt with a 95 ECU and ECM link. I've done a search and found that it's possible it could be the ECU or power transistor. Will be trying both of those tonight, looking for any more input someone might have on the issue. Thanks

i had that exact problem problem on my 7 bolt and it was my cam angle sensor (that sensor controls spark in bank 2 and 3... and the crank sensor controls 1 and 4)

i check the cam sensor with an omhn tester and it was getting singal ground and + but when i opened the sensor the cable in the middle "the one that sends the signal" was burned

good luck

TY
Now, check your power transistor............ no, I don't know of a test you can do, but that would do it!

If you've already tried new coil pack, go there next (lil black box with a wide clip)

So I got out to the garage today and tried a new PTU and swapped out my ECU back to the factory. All with the same results. Still no spark in cylinders 2 and 3. Any other ideas that I could try? Thanks for the help thus far.

I don't know if I can word this to make total sense, but hopefully you can follow me............ do a couple things........ as stated above, pull out your coil pack so you can play with things. And change wires around so you are trying different wires in different spots. DO NOT CHANGE THE FIRING ORDER, but for example switch 4 and 3 dis-connect from both ends so the coil "hole" is still firing in the right spot, but the wire just isn't the correct lenght (basicly, so you can just test the wire itself with a 1/2 of coil pack that is working). Did that make sense? hope so, simple test, I just couldn't think of how to word it.
Next thing........ this is a lil more complicated and if you don't understand what your doing, don't do it. BUT, your coil "pack" both "1/2's" are the same, 1 and 4 are on one, and 2 and 3 respectivly........ so you can (i've done it) re-wire them as to "switch" ea 1/2's so you can tell if it's one of the 1/2's or if it's the wiring going to them.......... hope I didn't confuse you more and your able to try both of these and start to narrow it down

We're sure it isn't the coilpack and it isn't the plugs/wires.

When we swapped to a non-eprom ECU just a few minutes ago, we didn't change the firing order back to match the ECU, and instead of 2&3 not firing, it was 1&4 not firing. With the EPROM back in, it goes back to 2&3 not firing. What could cause that?

the actual factory wires coming to the coil pack, that's why I was trying to explain to to "rotate" the coil packs around. by actually removing the lil caps and unscrewing the wires and flip flopping the 1/2 packs........... then if the same lil wires are the only ones working, sounds like something in the wiring.......... and if remeber correctly 1 pack goes through the transistor (that's why I suggested that earlier) and the other just comes straight from the ECU.......

We were able to get spark on all cylinders (but not all at the same time), so we know it's not a wiring issue with the coilpack.

exact same problem I had... turned out the bolt to my intake cam was loose. Really check your cam angle sensor im certain that might have something to do with it :thumb:
Exactly which bolt was loose?

We have verified that the CAS is properly installed, so...

From reading all of the post it really seems to be your cas but if hisandherturbo is correct the the ecu has to be getting its signal(for the other pack) then i would say check you Crank angle sensor on the back of the block. If all your wires are good and your coil packs are good then it has to be one of the sensor good luck

Sewey's car is a 6-bolt swapped 2G, so there is no crank angle sensor like 7-bolt equipped 2G's have.

how long the 6 bolt been in? did ya hook up the "4th" wire for the swap the one from the crank? did it come loose? you do have "random mis-fire" not being looked for (like dis-ableing it in DSMLink)

It was the bolt that hold the metal piece inside the CAS to the intake cam so I was having either spark on cylinders 1&4 or 2&3. Im just saying check and make sure your CAS is functioning properly
You're describing a 2G 7-bolt CAS. It's completely different that the 6-bolt CAS'. The CAS doesn't bolt to the camshaft on a 6-bolt.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Like Paul said, we are going to check for the missing wire later tonight. Being that we weren't the ones that did the six bolt swap we really don't know how all the electrical was done. I will post our findings tonight.

Yes I realize mine is a 7bolt not 6bolt, I was just refering to the same symptoms when my CAS wasnt functioning properly thats all.. you said you verified you hooked it up right but check make sure its actually working properly. is it just a countinuos cranking and not starting at all?
