hey guys on my 97 talon awd i drove to my friend house fine and well i parked and went ahead and installed my aem wideband (this has nothing to do with this).then i went to check it out and my car wouldn't start ...it started on 2 cylinders #1 and #4 sparked and i pulled #3 and #4 and no spark at all . well i changed the transitor pack and still nothing then i tried changing the coil packs and still no go.then i went to autozone got me a new camshaft position sensor and still nothing .:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Any suggestions?

Did you hook up that aem wideband to the ecu to be logged?? If so check your work. There is also proper ways of testing the coil instead of just swapping it.. Do you have a in-line spark tester? Have to find if you have no spark or weak spark

it was at night in the dark and i had a good spark plug plugged in the wire and well cylinders 1 and 4 worked but 2 and 3 didnt..this happened last night ... do you think my ecu might have went out?

no i hooked it up straight ..so none connected to ecu or anything

heys guys last night i drove the 97 awd talon to a friend and well i went to install my aem wideband (aem is NOT hooked up to ecu or car in any way).I tried to start the car and it didnt want to start. well It finally somewhat started but on 2 cylinders which are #1 and #4 ...well i pulled the plug wire and tried to see if there was any spark ... #2 and # 3 were not sparking ,so i changed the coil packs and still no spark .. tried changing the transitor and still no go . last resort i did was change the Cam angle sensor but still the same situation.

any suggestions?

Plugs and wires? Crank and Cam sensor. Im a 1g guy so used to having the 1. But unsure if you have 2. Plug for your coil packs. 3 wires right? 1 ground and 2 power for the 2 different coils. Maybe a plug or wire isn't contacting correctly and not giving power to coil.

So you changed the Coil packs, PTE, CAS, etc and still no spark? Try ohming out the packs themselves, check the harness plug/harness itself for damage as well as check for spark from the coil itself without the wires.

Go ahead and pull the ECU as well. Check for deformed caps, leaking caps, burns on the board, anything. Also go over any connections you may have jostled and ensure they are nice and secure. If it was running right before hand but not after the install then you likely nudged/damaged something you shouldn't have.

Edit : Wait... This is your thread, correct? : http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/tuning-engine-management/430131-cylinder-2-3-wont-spark.html

Why did you feel the need to make a second post?

the plugs and wires are brand new and work properly .. and well i tried my friends spare coil pack with both on there and plugged it in and sam thing happened ,still no spark on 2 and 3

i would say its the coil pack. maybe the transistor. but deff think its the coil pack even tho it has been changed

nobody was replying to that one so i figured someone might look in the newbie forum more-less.

I haven't check but I read on another thread my bolt behind the cas maybe loose ,so ill check that and ill try an ecu but would the 95 ecu work properly on a 97 ?

That bolt won't cause your CAS to not function. As long as you have a the CAS tightened down itwill function fine, however, you should always have both bolts/nuts in place. As for the ECU, yes. It will function, albeit I believe there are a couple of pins that need to be swapped around. You'll need to search for the write-up on that to figure it out as I cannot recall it off of the top of my head.

I was refering to the wire harness and wire plug adapters. Maybe a chaffed wire running between the ignition module and coils, or from ecu to module.

When you pluged in you wideband did you tap any wires. I would check your areas around where some recent maintence or work was done. Sounds electrical simple as a broken wire.
