hey I have a 2g w/ supposed 6 bolt swap but i didnt do it myself so was wondering if you could tell by the block numbers or something and where to find them. cause the only sure way ik to find out is to pull my tranny and thats alot just to find out. lemme know if u know anyway to figure this out thanx.....:dsm:

Well I believe the 3 6 bolts I had in my garage all had a backwards 7T3 on the block. The 7 bolt was something entirely different.

You can pull the timing cover and find out whether or not it has the provision for a crank sensor on the front case. Also the oil pan is different, it has a notch in the front of it.

The VIN # should be stamped in the block on the passenger side, upper left corner, just below the head. It is very small letters and numbers and you may need to spray some cleaner on it to see it. The 10th digit is for the year. 1990 would be an L. 1991 would be an M. If you have an N for the 10th digit, it is a 1992. I'm not 100% on this, however, a 1992 could be a 6 or 7 bolt.

There is a way to tell a 6 bolt from a 7 bolt by looking at the oil pan. I don't remember the differences, however, you should be able to find out about it on this site.
