I have a 97 GST Spyder.

I wrecked my car into a tree last month and I'm taking it to a body shop here in town to get it fixed. They are going to perform a four wheel alignment on top of the fixing the body panels. I'm worried that they will take it out and thrash on it, even when the engine is cold.

Is there a way that I can de-tune the car so it won't build must boost or something so I'll feel a little better dropping it off at some stranger's building?

I don't have many mods. I don't have any tuning tools either. Maybe tying the waste gate open all the way? or somehow restricting the air flow into the engine? Any ideas?

Thanks!
Ryan

There is a pin holding the WG actuator rod on the flapper you can pull and the turbo will not build any boost at all. Yank the pin and disconect the rod and no joyriding fun :p

just disconnect the wastegate flapper or just try to stay as close to the car as you can, doing an alignment wont take too long and if you do take it to a shop they WILL run the crap out of it.... im not trying to give a bad empression but everytime a car comes into our shop and we have to drive it, i DO give them a little gas,

Depending on what shop you take it to, they will either beat on it or treat it nice and 'see' if anything is wrong with your car. Big difference.
An alignment shop, yeah, beat on your tuner car for sure.
Wastegate flapper good mod IMO, If you can't set an rpm limit maby even put a little less timing on top end or have your own 'shop maps' for when your not driving your car. Something with about 5psi and 6k rpm. Of course you would need an EBC for that to work properly. Good for valet's and letting your buddy drive your car.

Do the wastegate mod or buy a manual boost controller. You could also drop the car off with gas light on :D

OR you can write down the milage and let them know to NOT DRIVE THE CAR! If they do, then sue. Getting an alignment and body work done... there really is not any need to drive the car. Tell them to call you when its done and you will test it to make sure the alignment was done correctly. BAM!!!:hmm:

ROFL I droped off one of my cars at the local exaust shop for a new exaust system...I came back and my car was WRECKED, the dumb ass rearended somebody!!!

This is an was an exaust shop, why in the hell do they need to drive it?? I havent even put 1 single mile on the car yet! It was in the body shop for over a year getting a widebody and a bunch of other stuff done to it, it was fresh out of the paint booth I'm talking about..

As stated just disconnect the wastegate actuator arm, and note down the mileage. Unless you get a shop that thinks they can use the Ferris Bueller trick.
