I have a 95 GSX and the cam sensor is on the front of the head behind the intake cam gear and its gone bad. is there any way to do a conversion on that sensor to use the one on the 97-99 models on the rear of the head? dont want to go through the hell of trying to replace the original and the later models seem easier to deal with and tune the timing. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you and have mercy on me please. this car is awesome but driving me nuts with all the little quirks.:banghead:

Personally, I wouldn't go with the 97+ cam angle sensor. Refer to here to use a 1g cam angle sensor. This will set you up for a six bolt swap for the future. But be sure to have ECMlink to make this work. But, i'm sure that all you have to do is check the connectors for the 95-96 and the 97+ dsms for similarities if not identical. If they are, which I think they are, just by all of the parts needed for that conversion. But take into consideration that your intake cam needs the tapped whole in back of the intake cam to bolt up the sender unit (i don't remember the name, but you know what I mean). If not, then your best bet is to follow RRE's 1g CAS mock and wiring.

The 95-96 and the 97-99 plugs are different. I learned from experience of my own. When I first bought my car it had no motor or tranny. But it did have the wiring harness and then i ended up buying a motor but it had the 95-96 style cam sensor but all i did was trade a guy for the right intake cam and the sensor housing and all is well now. But if you cant find the right cam then you will have to get the cam tapped for the toner ring that the 97-99 use for their cam set-up.

i have done this my self when i did a 1g head on a 7 bolt block. get a black top CAS and buy a 2G Eclipse 1G Motor Swap CAS Harness from RRE RRE's Eclipse New Products
and Boom your done. the install is cake, a one armed ape could do it. and if you get confused you can call RRE and they could help you out

Exactly... and honestly, you don't have to buy RRE's while they give instructions on making your own. They only problem I ran into is finding the connector for the CAS. You can always cut the wire (not the whole connector) and make to end connections with those to hook them up. But for those that have done this, what is the part number of the connector needed for completeing the wiring?
