Cam Sensor and Head need help!

so i just purchased this head from a gs-t 7-bolt the other day and ive been looking for A CAS well i finally pick one up only to see that it doesnt belong ..i thought all 2G cam sensors were the same and only the 1G had the 3 different types ..now im horrifically confused and need help here are some pictures

this is the head (arrow one is where the cam sensor belongs but its blocked off by something?)( arrow two there is a gapeing hole there and i don t know what belongs?)

You've got a '95 DSM so it has the '95-'96 CAS which sits behind the intake cam gear, the CAS you have there is for the '97-'99 DSM. You can use the '97-'99 CAS after a simple connector rewire but the problem is you might get random cylinder misfires but its nothing significant and almost un-noticeable. The reason why the misfires occur is because the '95 CAS's signal is inverted compared to the '97-'99. You can account for the inversion by running ECMLink which gives your the option of inverting the signal OR by running any '97-'99 ECU. If you decide run the '97-'99 ECU you'll have to swap spark plug wires with it too or else the car won't start.

The mods don't like you bumping your threads either so be careful when you start a thread you don't bump it.

Oh ok thanks for the advice ..I'm just going to order then a 95-96 CAS ...only issue I have now is that in my picture why is there a hole where arrow number 2 is?

Oh and this isn't the original head of the car its a 7 bolt but I'm guessing cause of my cam sensor issue this is a 95-96 head?

You might look under the intake cam gear and see if you can find a wiring harness coming out from behind it, its possible the '95-'96 CAS is still on there. Take a picture of your intake cam gear and post it up too if you can...

This is what goes in that empty slot under the valve cover ---> OEM MITSUBISHI HALF MOON VALVE COVER GASKET | 90-99 DSM You must special order it too because it doesn't come with the standard valve cover gasket you get at local car parts stores.

is the last picture posted the cam position sensor? i am also having goin throught this but when i bought my 2g it had a 1g cas in the head intead of that plug do you know where i can get one? i cant seem to track one down.thanks

Thats the CAS for a '95-'96 DSM and yes the picture in post #5 is what it looks like. I don't understand your question though, what are you trying to track down a 2ga CAS, 1g CAS, or the plug between the VC and head?
