I he been running an 044 that came from the grand national i'm working on for a buddy and it was new and unsused when he gave it to me for making his double fuel pump hangar that puts them both in tank parallel

Since i went AWD i have given up on my parallel 255's so this free 044 was awesome. Well i machined clamps to hold this and my fuelab 818 filter on the firewall and at first i had the filter between the tank and bosch pump and it was cavitating bad but i immediately changed it.. thing is now that the pump is plumbed correctly and the filter is directly on the outlet of it, I am still having some noises that i haven'theard because i havne't owned an 044 or worked on a car where it was mounted on the firewall, so i can't tell if this is an issue or not..

it's hard to \describe but i can get a clip if needed, fuel flow seems to be great though, but i do have a -6 90* fitting feeding the inlet of the pump which i heard "can" be an issue in some instances (it was the only choice i had at the time because i had to use fittings i had laying around or alreayd in the fuel system)

Also, i've read that mounting them with a solid mount transfers a TON of noise which i can see that happening but it's fargin loud IMO and mainly at idle just like the 255 but louder..

jere's a p[ic of the setup i'm running with it (i got rid of the check valve asj i've read it only impedes flow if it's not needed) and my system runs tepump for 2 seconds before startup since its' an ECU that's meant to be universal where the fu system could be anything imaginable

Glen, only had a 255 inline being fed by a 255hp, I mounted the inline back by the tank. It made some funny noises, but seemed to work ok and had great flow at high boost.

The 044 should flow more, but I don't think it should suck the 255 dry...

Can you put a gauge on the inlet of the 044? I was kinda thinking about going for the 044 my self as the 255's in series run out of fuel at 550whp on my car.

Well, I myself do not have a 044 pump but my best friend does, he feeds it with a in-tank 255, has the 044 on the fire wall with fuel filter after pump right befor fuel rail. His has some "noise" but works flawlessly.

I myself have a in-tank 255 feedin a in-line 255. The factory hard-line is a tiny lil piss tube so I replaced the hard line with a custom routed "short route" 3/8"s hose.

My in-tank 255 feeds thru a 3/8"s hose to the factory fuel filter location (where I use a napa/wix fuel filter) then coming outa the filter it goes into the in-line 255 which is mounted only about 8-10 inches away from the fuel rail.

I have a fuel pressure gauge mounted on the fuel filter befor my in-line pump. Then after my second pump I have a pressure gauge on the rail its self. So under the hood I have 2 fuel pressure gauges, one befor the pump and one right after it.

Of course my inline is a walbro 255 and not a bosh 044, but, at 40psi idle fuel pressure (gauge on my rail) ill see only like 5-6 psi on the pre-pump gauge.

I think the noise you hear is normal, I would definatley try to replace the 90* bends with straights. And puttin a pair of fuel gauges befor pump and after pump is a good idea just so you know how much your in-line is working off of.

My buddy alex that has the 255 into a 044 has only one gauge and its mounted in his car so I can't speak any hard facts or info but I do know he is also wantin to get the two gauges just so he can see and know.

At least the pump that's mounted under the hood isn't working from a dead stop. Its workin off a "boost" if you will, you just need to know how much of a "boost" it is workin off of.

Well, right now i only have one gauge on the AFPR, the readings are fine, but the noise i'm hoping is OK. When i had a filter before the 044 it wwould cavitate bad and was obviouse as hell.. I also found out that this is a modified 044 by Red jackson of builck grand national fame (i guess he's famouse most run his pumps which are 255's and 044's iwth the numbers scratched off LOL)

Anyway, it would cavitate bad and that sounded like rocks when the filter was pre-044, but now the noisse is like typical fuel pump noise but sounds "scratchy" if that makes sense.. If i can get ahead enough to put a gauge between pumps temporarily i will report back, but being that i don'thave rubber mounts i'm wondering if that's the issue with why i hear it so well in the cabin

The brackets i made don't bend the pump body at all they use double sided tape to actually clamp it in plkace tight neough (kind of a safety measure i took to keep from pinching the body of the pump)

so far everything has been great as far as AFR's staying good everywhere, except where i would go lean running out of the single 255 up top i now have fuel enough to keep on going.

I didn't get a sound clip today becuase temps were only 9* F so after the 5 hours atr the doctors office getting blood drawn i was about don'e for the day. but hopefully this weekend when i have garage time i can get something definitive

I have an 044 inline and it's always been loud, but it works fine. It used to be under the car near the fuel tank mounted with rubber insulators, now it's in the rear hatch area in a surge tank. Sounds about the same either way; the rubber doesn't seem to make a difference in the sound.
