Bosch 044 Inline pre pump filter?

My new project has a fuel cell and i am doing a Bosch 044 pump. I am having troubling finding any info on a pre pump filter. Since the pump wont be in the tank i cant use a sock, but the pump has a built in filter not sure if that will be enough. I know that with an A1000 they say a 10 micron pre pump filter and 100 micron post pump. Any idea on if the in pump filter is good enough or should i add another would be great!

I never heard of that/in pump filter/. That doesn't mean, that this not true. I have Bosch 044 in-line on my car/Wallbro in-tank/ and I run Aeromotive F Filter, before thw fuel rail, no problems so far. Why do you want it before yhe PUMP???

I would not put any additional filter before the pump. Pump are much better at pushing fuel than pulling it. I know a guy that burned up 3 of those big aeromotive a1000 pumps because he had it mounted so high on the car that it had to pull the full up from about a foot and a half from the tank and burned up 3 of them in 2 days. Just one example of why it's best to have no restriction before the pump

Once he mounted the pump down level with the sump (well only a few inches above) the car has performed great ever since.

If you must have the filter, do not put the 10 micron before the pump, put the 100 micron. Like Turboglenn mentioned, they are good at pushing, bad at pulling. and the 10 micron is too much of a restriction with no benefit over the 100 pre-pump.

There is an internal filter in the 044, Bosch WILL NOT warranty the pump however if you don't use a pre-pump filter. There are tons of alternatives, some are bosch, but what I've seen most are 30 micron sintered elements PRE pump. You can just run this in-line before the pump itself.

Personally, my 044 is run in-tank with no filter PRE pump, and then I have a trickflow -8an 10 Micron filter in-line POST pump to the fuel rail.

Now back on topic. That's the first i've ever seen of pre-pump filters, but i've never used the 044 except un-knowingly on our porche club cars when replacing bad ones *shrugs*

The problem with that is its designed for carborated systems not fuel injected cars. Its not designed for high fuel pressure.

^^^ Good point man. I wouldn't have seen it, but just by looking at the price-$ 26 is enough. The other filters cost abot 80-100 dollars.

Plus I think the filter should be after pump, before rail, cause if any debris from the pump are flowin, they better be stopped before entering the rail.

I just picked up some of these for my dual 044 setup, it doesn't say anywhere in the listing that they aren't for high pressure applications...

Actaully they will work! It says on the summit site they are designed for carb systems, but it also says its good up to 75 psi, carb systems are very low like 10.

I followed Aeromotive's recommended fuel system guide when I installed mine. I have a filter before the fuel pump (protects the pump from debris that might get into your fuel cell) and another filter just before my fuel rail. Here is a link to their guide:

I have been running this setup with an Aeromotive A1000 on a daily driver for about 3 years now, with no problems.

I will be running an Aeromotive 12301 fuel filter before the fuel rail as well.
