I bought a new bosch 044 fuel pump to replace a smaller pump. My problem is i cant seem to create a seal between the pump and the m18 inline fitting. I have a new copper washer inbetween but it still sprays fuel everywhere.

Any advice on how to solve this issue? some type of thread sealant? my other inline never had any leaking issues.

double check that the threads are ok on the fitting ?? I like to use o ring fitting with the copper washer. Try thread paste on the fitting not tape. "NOT on the AN Thread

It was leaking around the fitting in the center of the washer, there is a small gap on all the edges of the fitting.

I went and bought a fitting with a groove for a o-ring and it sealed the leaking problem. I tried to put a copper washer first then the o ring, but Both together did not fit correctly. It seems that the flat surface on the fitting that meets the pump should be bigger, or it needs a -8 inline?
