Hello there, I recently got back into the DSM game after selling my old talon.

I just got a rust free black 1990 GSX with an awesome condition checker interior and have been stocking up on some parts for it as well as using parts that were on it when purchased.

My plan is just to push the small 16g to its limit and then get a larger turbo afterwards.

Here is my full mods list.

1..20 6 bolt with wiseco 8:5:1 pistons, Shot peened rods, ARP studs (balance shafts removed and no AC)
2. 3 angle valve job rebuilt head with 272 cams
3.ACT2600 clutch
4.Shep racing #1 & #2 syncros and shift fork

TURBO AND EXHAUST
5. Ported 2g Exhaust manifold with 44mm HKS wastegate dumped of course.
6. Small 16g with Bullseye housing ($270)

17. Dual type RS bovs (vented) ($70 for both)
18. Port matched intake manifold

Here is the FMIC that I used. I made all of my own pipe.
eBay Motors: CXRacing INTERCOOLER 29x11x3 Civic CRX D-Series B16 B18 (item 390025224964 end time Jan-31-09 15:30:00 PST)

As for the holset I went from 80-3000 grit paper and then used a polishing wheel. I can do a write up if someone would like next time I do one.

Here are the only pics I have of the FMIC piping.

Should I run dual type RS's or one TYPE RS and one TYPE S?

Just looking for opinions.

It was an awesome deal. I may still run the 16g this spring and then switch to the 50 trim mid summer.

Got a KN filter today (first thing i've payed full price for)

Ok I have a little update.

I am going to go with some 880 injectors instead of the 650's.
Using one Type S and one Type RS. (can always change it out)
Been collecting pieces of 2.5" polished aluminum for the intercooler piping. I have everything I need now except the couplers and the IC
Also have been working on a really cool heat shield for the lower pipe out of an old aluminum running board.
Oil cooler is getting tapped for fittings tomorrow.
Shaving and polishing a valve cover. Might just sell this though.
Walbro and an intake pipe get shipped out to me tomorrow.
Planning on 22-25 psi with the 50 trim as well.

I think that's it for now but I will update again soon.

Any opinions or suggestions?

Stick with the Small 16G.

On top of Precision's horrible reliability, their DSM bolt-on turbine housing is so poorly designed that the 16G's tiny TD05H turbine in the Bullseye housing probably flows better than the T31 turbine in Precision's DSM Bolt-On housing. Your current setup will be able to max out the Small 16G compressor at 38 lb/min...the PTE setup would be lucky to peak 44 lb/min (that's the range of a 20G) and will spool much later than the Small 16G.

Regarding your dual BOV idea, read this post in the Holset thread and the responses that follow on pages 18 & 19:

Well the guy is being kinda shady about the turbo so should I just stick with the 16g? Do you guys think I can still obtain my goals with it and how much do you think I will lose if any by switching to the 50 trim? I am really looking for a quick spool and a nice hard kick in the pants when it does spool with good power through the rpm range.

Also as for the BOV thing goes, mine would be 2389 MM SQUARED if you go by valve size and 1668.125 MM SQUARED if you go by opening size. A tial would be 1962.5 MM SQUARED. Either way it only cost me $70 for both. Find me a tial that cheap and I'll switch them out. haha

50MM BLOW OFF VALVE, XS Power Inc.

I know a guy that's been running one of these on his car for over 2 years with absolutely no issues. It looks, sounds, and performs every bit as good as a real-deal Tial at a fraction of the price. The best part is if something breaks on this valve (diaphragm, etc.), all of it's parts interchange with Tial parts. I'm so convinced with it's success, that I bought one of these to run on my AWD project car.

You could sell those Greddy junkers to a Honda guy on eBay for WAY more than what you paid for them. That would be like getting a Tial for, well....free. :shhh:

i would like to see you stick with the s16g! Im not a big fan of Precision "quality." If you were to upgrade down the road consider something more durable like mhi 20g or holsets

Sticking it out with the 16g.:thumb:

Bovs are for sale in the classifieds. And no i am not selling them for what I paid for them. haha

A little update.

Got a TIAL 50mm today. I love it.

Also I am still going to get the 50 trim. Its just too good of a deal to pass up. But I will be running the 16g first.
