Well I am ready to have a SMILE on this ole mans face again. My profile car is/was fun but the stick is always abusive to parts and, I guess I am too.
The auto will be much easier on things!
    Very Appreciative!

    update:

so its been a while since ive updated.. ive pretty much given up on getting my cage put in this season after a bunch of issues with the local shops. so the plan for this year is to get the car back together, get some small stuff i have sitting around put on, need to get the injectors serviced, and going to have the car retuned on wastegate pressure (the current tune was thrown together the week before we went to the track LOL) and see just how low of an et i can get on wastegate. i did order a couple things such as a antilag racing dipstick and his new sparkplug gapula. ive also got to get a new set of harnesses for my side since the old ones are out of date. i do have some pics i took yester day of getting the catch can set up for the new dipstick.
    transcatchcan1.jpeg

    transcatchcan2.jpeg
couple pics of the bracket i made up for the catch can. talking to warren the trans shouldnt ever puke but can be possible in high hp applications, this is mainly being used as a vent but just in case it does have some come out the top of the tube this will catch it.

    transcatchcan3.jpeg
and mounted up. i felt this was the best place for it as the bay is kinda tight with all the other stuff going on. now just to get some hose end fittings and wait till the new dipstick gets here to get the line made up.

    nobumper1.jpeg
i just felt the need to take this picture for no real reson LOL cant wait to get back in the driver seat of this thing.

ill post some pics of gapula and the new dipstick when they get here thursday.

Is that a fan on your trans cooler that I spy? What size cooler is it, I am at the point of needing to order mine?
Thanks, love the puke can, LOL.

its a b&m 11x8 cooler with a cheap 8" fan. if i were to go back and do it again id get a derale cooler instead (still might later LOL) biggest issue with the b&m is its a total pita to get a fan on it. had to ziptie because the regular push through ties wont work.

It must be a plate and bar, those are tough to mount to. Did the SMIC area give you plenty of room to work with? I think the cooler I was looking at was 12.5 x 7.5". I have it all tore apart on that side and need to get a cooler ordered and mounted. Hoses out the top, side or bottom on yours?

yea it worked out really well. i made a bracket that ties in to the front bumper mount bolts to holt it there and then made another brace to tie up the back.

Very helpful. Cooler doesn't have to be perfectly straight, just get airflow so it cools. I like the bracket, it keeps it solid.
    Appreciate the pictures! :thumb:

yea and adding the fan helped a ton too. just the cooler my cruising trans temps were in the mid 180s. adding the fan dropped them to a mid 170ish if i remember right

Great info! I didn't know if I was going to need a fan but was going to mount the cooler in a position that would accept one if I needed it. I kept the stock ducting to my SMIC hoping it will funnel air right to the cooler.

    Who needs a horn.......:p
That's why there are 2, LOL.
What do you think of leaving the fog lights in? My VRSF kit lets them stay but I don't want to block a lot of air, still like the fogs tho.

update. so got the new dipstick in and line made from it to the catch can made as well. came out pretty well. dipstickline1.jpeg

    dipstickline2.jpeg

    dipstickline3.jpeg

i also had a little mishap the sunday evening. started the car to get it moved over to my concrete pad to start getting stuff done to it and had one of the brake lines going to the rear bust. havent had a chance to find where it broke at but its somewhere between the proportioning valve and where it goes between the body and front subframe. so now ive got that added to the list.

I had just about the same thing happen to my 92. And thank goodness like me it happened at home.
I bought a whole coil of nickle/copper tubing from Autozone and used their double flaring tool and fabbed my own rear lines. My car was just on jack stands and my 20 yr old son and I snaked it around everything for a dam nice fit along side the originals (which I cut up and then removed). If you have to fab lines I HIGHLY recommend that tubing. It bends easily by hand but use a tubing bender when you can for nice smooth bends. It worked so well that my son bought some more and fabbed his rear lines for his replacement rear dif for his Camaro. He even used leftover wire from our shop build to make a template of the original lines as they were rusted so bad that if he moved them, they just about crumbled. We are doing a complete rebuild of that dif, including new gears for him.
Just thought I'd share that with you. Was a little time but not bad. I think it took us 2-3 hours start to finish on the 92 Talon.

thats what im thinking about doing. originally i was going to just bandaid it and put a high pressure compression fitting but the more i think about it the more i cant bring myself to do it. just sucks because this is added to what i already have to get done to try to make it to shootout.

Grab a friend and a 12 pack and it won't take long. Honestly, my brakes felt sooo much better after doing the lines that I wondered if they had been "seeping" before the line blew. That stuff is very easy to work with and it looks good too! I did it all with the engine in the car too so it can be done. Best of luck for sure! :thumb:

so ive got the car up in the air to get started on the scramble to get it to shootout

    typical.jpeg

i did start working on some of the easy fixes under the car first. i got the jb designs t case brace installed and also the masfab driveshaft loop

    dsloop2.jpeg

    tcase.jpeg
i did have a little issue and had to pull the brace back off to get the lower mounting bolt in that i forgot jeff told me about LOL but got it resolved. also decided after three years of pretty much nothing but ethanol use id pull the injectors and have them cleaned and tested. theyve only had 93 ran through them maybe twice in the time that theyve been in the car and sat with e85 over the last two winters. i was surprised to see the condition of them

    injector1.jpeg
    injector2.jpeg
    injector3.jpeg
    injector4.jpeg

i also fixed the old battery terminal that was way passed wore out LOL. now all thats left is to tackle the brake lines, get the dash back in the car and interior back together, retune and make it to shootout.

got my brake line and new fittings to build my new front to rear lines on the car. still need to send my injectors off to get cleaned and get my dash back in the car and it needs an oil change.
    brakelinekit.jpeg

car still needs to get retuned as well. kinda worried its not going to make it to shootout this year. if not ill still try to find some days i can take it to the track to get some passes in.
