my exhuast suxs i need answers

i thought this would make my eclipse sound bad ass but it didnt.
so ### i did is i took my eclipse to a muffler shop told them to put 2.5in tubing from the cat to the a magnaflow muffler and it sounds the same? a little bit different but quiet

someone should i have bought a hks or N1, megan full exhaust?
im sort of a noob to this
had the car for about 6 months

well i use to live down in Kingsville for 13 years and moved up here to austin area two years ago.... Never in the ville did cops care how loud you car was or what was on it!
They didn't even check. inspection was... get in, turn on, drive around the block and they slapped a sticker on it!!!
haha i had a 91 ecsort gt running with straight header!!

here in austin there smog it but i just pay the guy!!

And A full 3'' exhaust is NICE but you need the correct exhaust flow to pull a 3'' off!
Running a 3'' Turbo back with just a stock motor wouldnt really be the best improvement, yes it will be better then the stock exhaust but the exhaust gases need to stay hot till they exit or they will slow down causing some restriction!
Now if you were going to upgrade the motor with a bigger turbo and fuel inj and so on... a 3'' would be ok
But there is nothing wrong with the 2.5" piping you have now!! that is an upgrade from stock anyways

Id say.. keep the piping you have, get a different muffler, and possible a test pipe (if you want)

What kind of Magnaflow muffler are you using? I have a 3" setup with a high flow cat and a louvered resonator with the 3" inlet dual 3" outlet Magnaflow. It sounds so nice and deep but apparently it's loud as hell since people can hear me from many blocks away. I wish it was quieter personally as the droning becomes an annoyance when trying to talk with people in the car.

what i did was after i had all the pipes in the engine bay replaced with hard pipes and ported o2 with a 3inch downpipe i just threw a stright pipe in for the cat and kept the stock cat back and i think it sounds pretty bad ass but its illegal in some state. but if u ask me i would say apexi n1 bcuz that also sounds good on my 91 that i have and that diamond is pretty much stock

good luck with that at a muffler shop. they can get fined if state finds out they put in a test pipe in your car that clearly is registered to run on the road. the guy here will do it but i've taken my car there for years. it would be easier to buy one off ebay. then again i don't know what kind of hook up you have at Corpus.
i'm in kingsville and my TSi had 3 inch all the way back to the HKS muffler. sounded like sex but it was too loud for my taste. i like the sleeper. noone ever bothered me on the missing cat. inspectors never checked. i doubt they check in corpus either unless you go to a big name shop. independents usually drive her around the block, check the lights and 1 time they checked the emmisions under the hood, or at least they opened the hood but i had no emissions. they probably weren't aware of how they were routed on my car.

A muffler shop can make a pipe to fit in the spot where the cat would be if it's flanged in. They cannot install it though, so you would have to put it on when you got home.

i would have to agree i have 3" magnaflow with test pipe and it is loud

but i cant install a test pipe on my car i need to weld and stuff and ### about the sensors

Start using proper grammar first off.

Any exhaust shop, Midas, Monro, Meinike etc. Any place that welds and cuts exhaust piping will be able to measure, add flanges and weld it for you. They just will NOT be able to install it then as you will need to keep the cat on. If your cat is already welded in, they can cut it out, and weld flanges in on the piping and cat.

strict as emissions are here i must have a catalytic converter in Texas
or i get a 2,500 fine wich is bad unless some guy could pass my inspection sticker without caring bout it

I would send you pictures but I'm in Iraq right now, just remind me in a month and I'll get you some. They don't even do an emissions test at Fort Hood they just make sure the lights, wipers, horn and brakes work and then I'm on my way . Try and find a shop in the woods that will do it for you. My test pipe is more like a high flow cat but not really, it just looks like one.
