I have a Talon TSi and I am rebuilding the motor completely. I have a non-turbo block and would like to use it with all turbo accessories if possible. Would it work? The only difference I have seen in the two blocks are that the non-turbo doesnt have the oil feeds to the cylinder walls like the turbo does. It should work right?

It does, except your missing some oil squirters. They lube the crank and internals to compensate for the extra stress/motion going on in the motor. You can get them machined in for pretty cheap I hear. But other than that it should work.

Yes it will work. But I would recommend buying a set of Scat rods for your N/T block. Scat rods have their own "piston squirter" built internally. They shoot oil up at the pistons. The stock rods dont really do that. Its not a huge deal, but since you're rebuilding it, might as well build a stout block right?

Why are you rebuilding the engine? What are your goals for this rebuild?

Yep it will work. Nt blocks have no knock sensor (gotta drill and tap I believe), no oil squirters and different pistons. They still have the same crank and big rods.

I always thought the rods were weaker in the N/T. But yes, the crank is the same so use if it if its good!

The oil squirters dont squirt the crank. They squirt the pistons/cylinder walls. They are not necessary really.

SOME N/T blocks that I have seen have a spot for a knock sensor. Most dont do. I had the machine shop weld in a piece of metal and thread it for the factory location for the knock sensor, but there is a spot on the block to thread a knock sensor if you dont do that. Its just in a different location, but it will work.

thanks for the info guys. I am rebuilding it cause somehow my little brother blew the old motor up, and it was so bad that the only thing salvageable was the turbo. I plan on getting the 20g turbo upgrade with a front mount and the maf translator kit for it soon. Do you have any suggestions on what i should do first?

If the motor was that wiped out it is a good idea to replace the turbo also because it migt have eaton some of the motor when it blew or the oil that flowed into it could be contaminated. But other then that good luck with the rebuild.
