Well this is going to be a process in itself. A lot of work, but even more fun! The finished product will make it ALL worth it! Going to try cleaning up the firewall a bit, remove the EGR, going to bypass FIAV. Get down to as little Vac lines as needed!

I'll start off with adding a few pics of how things are now..

This is the best "Before" pic I have minus intake, licp, and uicp. Excuse the Translator taped onto fuse box!

Parts are going to be shipped off to Coating\Painting this week and will update more then!

Also on a different topic I got the ELHS mod done to the car, the nut I used as a spacer was just a tad more than the 8MM thickness of the AC bracket so I added a washer to the other side, and it leveled out perfect.

Doing all this also has shown that I need a new knock sensor(shown in pic above) Going to change out starter while I'm there, as that is the original and I have such easy access to it right now.

Also Head is coming off, getting Cometic gasket(have been told that stock gasket may be better if im not going to put down big HP numbers), ARP head studs, and am going to see if anything else needs to be done to the head once it is off.

All opinions\suggestions welcomed!

Well there has been some major progression done if you ask me!

There has been quite a bit of sandblasting\prepping\cleaning going on with my parts that are going to be getting powdercoated so here is a little update..

As a reference to some descriptions below I am going with these 2 colors mainly;

Black Chrome:

Not my pipes though.

Red:

My intake before:

The intake after cleaning\fixing\trueing up the lettering:

Also with that intake it is going to be a Black Chrome color(Amazing color by the way) while the lettering will be getting all taped off and coated with the red that I will be doing in my engine bay. Those pics will be up when it has been done!

Next on the list is my BOV, because I have the OLD style HKS BOV, it is possible to take it completely apart very easily and have it powdercoated as well. The BOV will be going with the same paint scheme as the Intake (Black\Red) So here is a couple pics:

Cleaned up:

Prepped for coating:

I also have my water neck being coated so here is a pic of it all cleaned up:

My Upper intercooler piping was what you could call kind of a mess, so I had a custom pipe made to the exact specs of what I had it connected with via couplers and such:

Also had the BOV flange cleaned up, can't really tell in this pic but this is a middle stage pic of the UICP:

Some pipes in the middle stage as well:

I am going to cover some hoses, like rad hoses, some vacuum lines and such with this nifty kit:

Well that's the update for today, There are a few more parts being coated also, as well as a few more on the list to get sent down. Have the perfect person working on my parts and they are very easy to work with so as time goes on, the bay will get to be looking nicer. I have not been able to do much more with parts in the engine bay as the weather has not been the greatest up here in PG. Just got 11cm of snow last night! :p

To clean the engine bay, you have to do 3 things, ahead of anything else:
- eliminate power steering
- Relocate alternator
- Relocate the battery

Otherwise is allways looks full, regardless of how nice it is... Here is a example:

I hope this helps a little.. GL...

I will be dropping my battery down like you did in that pic you posted, andy4g63.

And yes I will be taking my time. The car is not going back on the road again 'till late March\Early April so I have lots of time to do things right.

Am also going to be doing some minor headwork, like cams,lifters,springs\retainers most likely. Going to see exactly what I'm working with once I get it all apart.

Andy4g63, what did you do as a base for your battery? Just curious on what all you did to drop it down.

Nothing special.. Charcoal canister have to be removed.. Otherwise you drop thr battery on top of tunnel, that covers the rack and pinion amd that is it... I made a bracket from a flat piece of metal and bolted it to the body..

Nice bay andy..... keep up the work and yours will looks sweet too crazym!!

I would love to spiff mine up but dont have the time or money to be putting into that.. need to work on other things with the car first!

hey andy4g63, you running speed density??
i don't a stock maf or a gm and you runninng you bov open... curious on you set up!
shit let me look at you profile haha

ell I was a little late on the last update, but I JUST got these pics so up they go! This is some of the smaller Black Chrome parts..

I got rid of all that stuff anyways which is why I was planning on dropping it down. You did it the exact way I was planning to do it so, I guess it works just fine!

Quick questions about firewall cleanup, I pulled my windshield wiper motor and now I have a big ugly gaping hole there, what do you guys do about that? Fiberglass and paint?

Fiberglass and paint could work. If it were me I would get a piece of metal welded in there, and then grinded down, filled, sanded painted type thing..

Update #2 of the day!!

Well here's a couple pics, nothing has been clear coated as of yet..

The Lower IC set up

This BOV and my Intake are easily my fav parts of this project.. Red on black I think is amazing! Clear coat will also bring out the red on the black a lot more..

Well there's been some more progress :) All these pipes are prepped and ready for being powder coated the red!

This pipe used to have a blue 90 degree couple connecting the two pipes together, but is now one piece.

The BOV flange, used to have 4 holes, Stock flange re-drilled to the Greddy flange holes, which actually also fit the OLD style HKS BOV, mentioned a couple posts up.

Looks really good. wish I had the courage to do this on mine. maybe when I get another daily driver I will.but keep up the good work.

I couldn't do this if it was my DD but since I park it for winter it's not too bad. I can't wait 'Till it's done though!! Only bad part is cold days and a non heated area slows down the progress but she is coming along.

Parts are lookin sweet!!! Good job man!!! I wish I could do this on my Spyder. Just don't know if I have the courage to take out the emissions quite yet.

I had a hard enough time getting the car inspected without the MAP sensor (broke and won't need it when I go SD later on), even though I'm running ECMlink and can turn off that CEL with the program. I would really love to get rid of the VAC lines and such, just don't want to forfeit being able to pass yearly inspections! PM me if anyone has done this, who lives in an Emissions regulated state.
