My compound turbo set-up

That's the b-cover 60-1 you're looking at. Most dsm guys have an e-cover, like what the sc60, fpred, etc. It makes a difference once you start using higher flowing wheels.

I always assumed the B cover flowed less than an E cover, but it's been years since i aprenticed at majestic, so i could have that mixed up. Is that going to alllow him to run over the chart's airflow?

My 60-1 has an "S" cover. My compressor map shows max flow to be somewhere around 60-65 lbs/min. I've never had it over 20 psi, but I assumed it would shine in the 30-35 psi region. Nevertheless, I have the 60-1 currently gated at 17.4 psi.

Thanks for the info on the MAP sensors, guys. I had originally ordered it through AEM because I'm a dealer and the price was very nice. But, I'm not willing to wait several weeks for the backorder to be lifted. So, I ended up buying one off of eBay last night. I'm hoping it shows up for the weekend.

Glenn - Right now, the system should be making around 32 PSIG. Before I hit the dyno, I plan to have Mark Hallman make me a boost controller to use with my AN fitting vacuum lines and I'll crank the boost up to the high 30's by controlling the 16g's wastegate.

So, I didn't get a video, but me and Dale took the car out for a 10 minute joyride yesterday. It's simply amazing. This is the fun I've been looking for in my car. I shifted early at like 5500 RPM's and it was in the mid 20's psi at half throttle. It builds boost early. Comes on strong between 3500-4000 even at part throttle. Boost builds very fast and it pulls extremely hard. The car just floats. Fun as hell. It's definitely working.

I have a major leak at the oil pan and it will leak a quart in a couple hours. I need to get a different oil pan on here before I can start driving it daily. Otherwise, it's ready. Anyone want to hook me up on an un-dented and non-rusting 7-bolt oil pan? :sneaky:

I have like 5 6bolt oil pans just laying around LOL

This is great! I'm thinking 2g with a t25 and a 7blade (60lb/min) hx35 with the stock holset housing. Typically the hx35 would spool to 20 or so psi by 4K. . . But not with the t25 installed. :)

Damn, had i known you needed a pan I wouldn't have plasma the bottom out of the only 7 bolt stpare i had. Besides you i haven't seen many people still running a 7 bolt with the power you're going for.

This thing sounds amazing! I may have to check it out when I go down to pick my car up from DSMGraveyard in the next week. Actually, why don't you call up DSM Greaveyard and see if they have an oil pan for ya?

VERY AWESOME! I've been following this for a while now. This is so sweet and I dieing to find out the power its going to make. Good luck and please get an oil pan to post some new videos. Even if its just a teaser of only a few pounds of boost would be AMAZING!!!!! the car sounds so awesome in the idling video.

any updates i cant wait to see a vidoe of this thing in action.

The enamel is drying on the pan right now. I'll be installing it in an hour. I had a pair of -10 bungs welded on it this morning. I also had another bung welded on the downpipe for the wideband, and I had to fix a leak at a fitting on the 16G. So, I'll throw it all together tonight and finally (hopefully) get to drive it to work in the morning.

sweet!!! can't wait to get some REAL feedback from you on this. i want to hear about how much fun it is after it is all tuned. =)

Well good luck Paul. I'd love to see some datalogs of a WOT 1500rpm +to see what you have for airflow.

You taking it to the Pink's test & tune and event the beginning of July?

only 500AWHP? that seems kinda fail for all that work, but it would make for a nice auto X car or RR with that quick spool

i wonder what turbos its running

That's all this setup is for, flattening the power curve. Its not going to make more power than using a single turbo setup. All in all its more of a conversation piece than an efficient use of time and money towards building a faster vehicle.

Faster is not just about power. Most time attack cars don't make HUGE power but they are verry responsive and make enought power to get up and go but not too much were traction is sacraficed. In a straight line the facors that dictate how fast you go are a lot less then the amount of factors when turns get thrown in the mix.

I can definately see this as the ultimate autox/RR setup. Spools like a small turbo with the power of a big turbo. Isn't this what we've all been looking for?

Wait, you mean AREA UNDER THE [torque] CURVE means something? No way. That's impossible!

That all is basic known knowledge and goes without saying, its also implied by my very first comment about flattening the power curve. On a higher point it is still more of a showcase of ones ability to look outside the box opposed to doing the norm. I am 100% positive for the time and money spent building this setup that a comparable one could have been built for a fraction of the cost and in a fraction of the time.

But I'm sure that wasn't the sole purpose of this build. It was to take an existing idea from another platform and apply to our own in a way opening a new door for going beyond the typical. For that I give him a big. :thumb:
