I know this has been done and answered before but just wanted some reassurance. I bought a mishimoto radiator along with fans used as a bonus during my repairs but the wires for the slim fans are a bit messy. There's only 1 plug and some of the wires are pulled out and the rest are all just open ends. It came off a car that made a good bit of hp so they may have had it wired specifically for the build and unfortunately the person I got it from isn't sure how it was all hooked up as he had also purchased the car for parting out. Theres nothing wrong with my radiator, it actually looks great for the age but figured the price and time was right for an upgrade. Exhaust and turbo are stock, using the stock fans will make it tight but are there any other issues I might encounter? How do things hold up in the long run?

Are you able to post a photo of the fan wiring? Might be able to help a little more if we can see.

The only thing to pay attention to would be the shrouds. Just make sure the factory fan shrouds are up against the core just like on the factory setup. Or if you have the Mishimoto shroud, make sure they are mated up nicely so there are no gaps. You will actually probably be better off with the factory fans over the mishimoto ones. They aren't great.

That being said. You should have no issues with factory fans. They just move air like mishimotos and if the wiring is easier and involves less hacking that's good too.

Factory fans move a TON of air. I'd use them if at all possible before a majority of the slim fans that are available today. I understand if space is a concern, and if that's the case, pay good money for quality slim fans.

Otherwise the rad should work fine as long as its in good shape and the rest of your cooling system checks out.

Stock p/s fan ftw. I put mishi rad and slim fans last year. Coolant temps on a hot day would reach 230s at idle in traffic. Switched the p/s fan back to stock and it was back to normal. I did have to trim the fan shroud and also shorten the tabs on the radiator to make it a tighter fit against the rad. Just make sure you don’t take off too much and be mindful of the fan blade doesn’t contact the rad if you go this route. I’m a 1g so not certain if the same applies to 2g

The 2g rad is vertical unlike the slanted 1g rad so space is a bit tighter.

I use 2 oem small (thin type fans) i drilled the hole open a bit more in the fan and used 2 pieces of hose either side to help secure it better. The stock fans work well.

I run mishi fans , and their x-series radiator . I went from well over 230 temps on the highway. Now I dont go over 200 on the highway.

Just curious but if your not having heat issues at the moment and running stock turbo and exhaust, why even mess with it right now?

Because the price was right and I had to take the radiator out to fix the car. I didnt necessarily need it but had the extra cash. Plus it gets hot here on the east coast in the summer and I was hoping it would help keep things a bit cooler. The car will be getting an AWD swap and at that point an exhaust and shortly after will likely follow with a turbo setup so between the timing, price, and future plans it just made sense. Same reason I have a walbro 255 ready to go in too. Prep! Shes turning from daily to protect haha

This is the only pic I have at the moment. Looking more at that fans it looks like only 1 may be mishimoto. I have the stock fans on right now and bleeding the coolant on a 80ish day took about a half hour of idle for the fans to kick on and then it was for all of 10 seconds. Huge difference!

I’m currently running a Mishimoto radiator with stock fans and no fitment issues. Didn’t have to trim the shroud. Had this setup for about 18 months so far.

I'm really liking it. Looks good and an easy but noticeable upgrade.

Yup, it's pretty straightforward...if you're running a braided flexible line from the OFH to feed the turbo you will have to be careful of the line with the fan. I ziptied my line to avoid the blades, but if you still have the OEM oil feed line you probably won't have to worry about it.

I also had a mishimoto rad with oem fans on my old spyder. Never had fitment issues, never trimmed anything. You'll be good to go, unless your core support is bent.
