IAC stuck open throttle plate closed idles fine except at a higher rpm mine is around 1500. If IAC is stuck closed with throttle plate closed it will die. I have seen people braking open the IAC and remove the plunger and make a plate to fit over the sensor location and using the nut welded to the plate and adjust the idle using the plunger I believe I saw it on 2gnt.
