Who built your MS unit?

Is the case grounded anywhere? Make sure it is not in contact with any metal chassis parts.

I bought it from Dougie2 on 2gnt.com I visually inspected everything when I got it just because of the shipping but everything seemd to be in order. The case was actually sitting in the passenger seat when I noticed it. Like I said, I have read alot of people get spikes but its also at a higher rpm. I have logged it and I don't have any spikes anywhere else but at idle. I bought the harness from diyautotune so its a shielded tach wire thats tapped into the CKPS. I am going to add some grounds/clean up ones I already have, and maybe try a new CKPS. Its already filtered through the VR circuit according to Dougie2.

That is a part of the log I did tonight. You can see that it only happens in the 700rpm range and then I get these god awful spikes, but ONLY at idle...WTF?WTF

I got it working now, the VR circuit was built, BUT was not being used. I rewired it to use the VR instead of OPTO and boom, spikes gone. Thanks goes out to Corbin on 2gnt for the write up.:thumb:

Yo Rand, I got 880's in the mail finally , but I need someone to tell me if I can run them without the flyback board or the resistor box. Can't we just adjust the pwm % to make low imp'd injectors work? Someone, Anyone?

I want to up the boost passed 10psi and get her back on the dyno. I did a lot of working on my map while on the airplane. We'll see how it works. I still need to fix the burnt spot on my x-11 next to my db harness. Anyone know why this would have burnt. It's the small strip on the board from the x-11 to the db jack. It looks like it's burnt. I'm thinking I need to check my wiring off my harness where it's spliced into the factory coil pack.

Not to jump into your post, but I can't find anything on this stuff. If fixed the bov not soudning. I rerouted my vac lines, put on my stocker tb, and took out a spring on the bov. Doesn't make sense to me, but oh well. I need a 60mm tb and put my ssqv back on.

Someone if you know give me some ideas-

Randy, let me know when you go to the dyno with some bigger injectors.

Depending who biult it but yes you can run both low and high imp. injectors and just set PW right (Again depends onwho built it). But if you use the HiRes code you have to run inline resistors if you want to run Low imp injectors. Im going to the dyno tomorow to get my 1660cc and E-85 tuned, but I cannot seem to get my car to run right?! I have NO power almost feels like Im running on two cylinders, trying to figure out if its my coil pack or what.

So what do I set my pwm to? Terry built my ms.The only thing I found was to set it to 75%. That doesn't make too much sense to me.

Can I just solder in a short wire to bypass the burnt line on the board? Obviously I need to check my connections first to see if I can find why it burnt. Could some of my settings on my ms have caused it?

Ajax, you're right on most counts, but I figured I could clarify a little...

1.) Like you said, you absolutely need to run inline resistors if you're using the HR code. On the other hand, you shouldn't need to use the HR code unless you're using 1000cc/min injectors or bigger (for our application at least).

2.) The V3.0 board had built-in flyback protection for use with the standard code. The V2.0 board does not have any flyback protection, so you'll either need to use a resistor pack or a flyback board. It doesn't matter so much who built your board as much as what they built.

3.) PWM is user-defined in Megatune. You can adjust your injector PW to whatever you need. It'll need to be pretty small to idle larger injectors.

So my safest bet is to order the flyback board from like rs autosport and the heatsink to go with it. Is this correct? I think they both are like $35 or something.

What do you think about my burnt line on my board? Fixable? I'll try to post up pics of it, I have to take it out first.

Yeah, get the kit or inline resistors... both are about $20 (if you make the board yourself).

I'm not sure about the burnt line... it could have just shorted against a chassis ground somewhere. You can try replacing it and see if it happens again. If you've installed your MS properly, most everything should be fused, so there shouldn't be any damage.

Yeah it is all fused. The main board is fused, but I don't have a fuse coming from each side of teh coil pack. If I'm not mistaken, the ms is just sending a signal to the coil rather than actually powering the coil. I have the wires spliced into the wires going out to the coil from the stock ecu. No fuses or anything, could this be my problem? Teh only way I can think of to fix my board is to run a small piece of wire to bypass the burnt spot. Any suggestions?

Paul I'm pm'ing you about the flyback board.

The coil is fused at B+. The ECU (MSnS in this case) would supply a ground path to pins 1 and 3 of the coil pack to complete it's circuit.

So I might need to check my grounds.

I might have done a shotty thing to get all the ground wires together. Don't know until I re-explore it. I might need to run thicker gauge wire for the grounds. I think I have all of them staggered together into one wire and then grounded. I do notice an uneven idle afr. It jumps sometimes. It might hit rich and then back to normal every half minute or so.

OK guys I am having some trouble with my MS1 again! It keeps missing around cruising speed. Or thats what I think is going on. It almost feel like your in the wrong gear or something. It accelerates great so I know its not my clutch slipping. And it only happens around a steady throttle which get really annoying when you want to go somewhere!!! Well I attached two MLV pics. would have like to post my MSQ but you cant, so you can look at the thread I go by AJAX aswell towards the bottom is my MSQ. I have my injectors wire CH1 to injector #1&3 and CH2 to injector #2&4, would it make a difference if I switch the channels around? As you can see for some reason my Gego goes nuts around that area, does that mean something? http://msextra.com/viewtopic.php?t=25774&highlight=

anyone in the chicago area want to finish a MS install for a friend (money)

Hey ajax, go open up your msq file, and open up your VE table, and click (print screen)...then open up paint, and click edit "paste"........then you should be able to post your VEtable and spark table, and whatever other screen shot your looking to post up.

Yeah I got that figured out awhile ago it was due to the fact Rsautosport installled a diode in the wrong place which caused a weak injector output on one of the channels. Thanks thou. Yeah if anyone is running E-85 I dont have an idea how to tune my spark map. I do have Knocksense but I need to weld a bolt so that I can attach the sensor to the block(hole of the sensor is smaller than the threaded hole in the block). I would have attached my fuel and spark map but for some reason it fails to upload. So basically any advice for tuning a spark map would be nice.

I know a guy who is using MSnS with E85. I'll let him know about the thread and see if he can help.

Okay so other then the obvious jacked up spark table at the begining, and the incorrectly staggered "5" on the kpa table, I'm welcoming all tips and tricks, especially regarding idle and cold start setups.

Just out of curiousity, can anyone explain what would happen if the IAC valve was stuck in the open position and the throttle plate closed.......and again if the IAC was stuck closed and the throttle plate closed as well?
