re wire mega squirt

Hi, this question might sound kind of newbish but i am not familiar with any engine management.. anyways i have an Rs with a built motor and i just bought Gs with a blown motor. i have both engines out and ready to put the good one in the Gs ( Nice upgrade of electric windows and sunroof etc...) My Rs was controlled with Megasquirt II, i am just about to transfer it to the Gs and it seems pretty straight forward but i guess my question is are all the wires that come out of the old computer the same in both cars? can i just cut the old harness in the Gs and match the colors to the wires that the megasquirt is connected to now? Just because im in school and dont feel like paying the dyno guy that installed it in the first place to charge me like $400 to do a simple job like that. Thanks for any advice.

both 97's
but none of those interior electrical extras have anything to do with the computer right? so i shouldn't have to worry about extra wires to mess me up right? the most extensive wiring i've done is pretty much fog lights

What extra wires?

If you are going from 97 to 97 the wiring should be the same. Oh wait, are you talking about RS to GS? Yeah, that wiring will have no effect on the engine wiring.

Yep, the only extra wires on the interior harness are for cruise and fog lights anyway. Should be an unplug and plug depending on how/where power and ground were tied in to the original harness.

obviously there were a couple extras wires and a few that the colors dont match up.
anyone know where to find wire diagrams? where does the harness that goes into the firewall on the left go to? the extra ones come from there.. important ones? i have no idea. might just put it all back.. thanks. i can post pics tomorrow if it would help

That wire harness goes to the fuse box under the dash and all the inside electrical. For someone that has only wired up foglights I would not attempt this. But good luck!

thats what i thought.. i dont actually have to touch anything inside. just taking megasquirt from one car to the next. just redoing some of the engine harness because the new car was in an accident and they did a shotty job. the computer itself was a breeze
