HERE, DAMMIT!

ok n00b question here.. i got my MBC all hooked up fine (dejon tool.. sweet!) i'm just wondering what to do with the stock boost solenoid hoses.. i took the top one completely off (this is the one that was going to my intake pipe.. then capped that nipple on the pipe) .. the one on the bottom, that tees off and goes to both the wastegate and the turbo housing, is still there. i just bent it backwards and stuck it in the bracket that the top hose was at.. its still connected to the solenoid though. is this alright? can i leave it on there like that will it screw anything up?

I just purchased a Joe P MBC ZX for my 98 gs-t and the instructions that were included were for hooking it up on a 1G. Using this method in the instrutions the boost wont go below 20psi of boost. Can someone please give me step by step directions of how to hook it up on a 2G. I tried doing a search but some of the posts were very vague in the instructions. Any help would be much appreciated...thanks

Hook one end of the controller up to the nipple on your t25 compressor housing. The other end goes to the waste gate nipple. Dont T it off into the bov line because a lot of the time you wont be able to control boost this way. Kind of like what your experiencing.

That is how i had it hooked it up and also the way the directions that came with the mbc told me to hook it up. Couldn't get the boost anywhere near safe. Even at the lowest setting at half throttle the boost wanted to blast way above 20psi.

I have mine T'd to the BOV line. Works like a charm.

I originally had trouble adjusting it because the way you turn the screw to lower boost seems counter intuitive but once I turned it in the opposite direction it all came together. It spikes to 15 or 16 pounds when boost comes on for just a fraction of a second then quickly dips down to 14 and holds steady.

If i T one end into the blow off valve tube and put the other tube directly into the wastegate, what do I do with the tube that is currently going into the wastegate from the T-fitting below?

Okay, pardon my ascerbic, bombastic, adzwhole tone, but just perhaps you guys shouldn't be putting MBCs on your cars until you can noodle out how they work, and _especially_ understand what it is they're doing.

You mean the line that goes from the compressor housing to the boost control solenoid? I just removed it and capped off the fitting on the compressor for now.

I hear some people like to hook their aftermarket BOV to that fitting so you may not want to do anything too permanent to that fitting -- like JB Welding it shut. Just find a rubber cap that fits and zip tie it on there.

i find that with my greddy type s, using the T fitting-to-bov-vacuum-line method causes the type S to blowoff eratically. This is due to the fact that when the throttle plate snaps shut, the intake mani vacuum takes longer to relieve the pressure in the tube to the bov due to the added volume of the t'd tube to the MBC. Also, an advantage to having the MBC hooked directly into the compressor housing is that that "spike" at the beginning of boost will be minimized, due to the fact that the path of pressure to the MBC is a lot shorter

just my 2c

Sorry bout all the questions,
everything is happening at once!

can someone post a link to some instructions?
none of the vfaq links work for me...i get a '404 not found'

help? :thumb:

so that diagram on this post... will that simple setup work for a turbonetics boost controler?
cause my instructions are worthless bullshit.

hey ive never had a MBC and i just made a Home Depot one (its the SPECIAL JDM one, LOL :thumb: ), just curious i wanna try it out and see how it works, so can someone help me out and tell me the RIGHT way to put it in?

so ur just suppost to leave the stock BCS hooked up wit no vaccum lines going to it? can u disconnet the connector? or would that be bad?
