:dsm: Hello to all tuners,
im in the process of doing some upgrades to my eclipse and im trying to make the engine compartment look a lil more "clean" so i mounted the battary in the trunk still not good enuff so i tryied to take out the cruis control unit and and ran into problems do i have to replace the throttel cable for a non cruise control one

There is a box for the CC that has to stay (it is the rotating piece that the cable goes through to turn around the intake manifold) because without it there will be no way to move the throttle. Ive been thinking on how to get rid of it, but nothing so far because a complete custom throttle linkage will have to be fabricated.

Heres the thing I fabricated a custom intake manifold and had the cruise control box problem so i bent the hanger and mounted it a little higher. Then i realized that if i removed the cruise control module (not the cc box) i could get around buying an expensive upper intercooler pipe and easly make it myself. So here is my question If I remove the the cruise control cable from the box and just unplug and remove the module am I going to run into any problems with my throttle cable? 96TalonTsi :talon:

:talon: what do i have to do for the removal of the cruise control? i need room for an upper i/c hard pipe.

Remove the entire throttle cable including the box and replace it with a non- cruise throttle cable.

Sup guys. I removed the Cruise Control components in front of the battery (cable & big clunky bracket w/actuator thing), now I want to remove the box on the firewall, anybody been there done that? Also, where (if there is) is the fuse for the cruise crontrol? I didn't see it in the engine compartment or under the dash. Any feedback will help, thanks.

You can't remove that box on your firewall as it houses your throttle cable as well. You can unbolt the cruise control vacuum assembly however. Unplug the harness, disconnect the cruise control cable from the throttle cable box on the firewall, and then take off the 2 or 3 bolts holding it on.

Actually, you can remove the front 'box'. You will just need to purchase a non cruise control throttle cable. Just disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body, and gas pedal then fish it back through... Install the new non-CC throttle cable and your set.

yes its rather easy go to a junk yard and pick up a NON-turbo throttle cable off of a first gen. and do it up.....(note. the throttle cable is extremly hard to pull off of and put on the pedal)

OK, so I need a 1G N/T throttle cable on my 2G GS-T to remove the box? I knew I could remove the box, I should have asked, "Which throttle cable from which DSM do I need?"

Yes you can, And no you won't. I removed mine and haven't had any problems. The throttle cable is on a seperate ''lever'', Just do not remove the ''circle lever'' that the cruise cable is attached too.
1993eclipseGS, see the picture, are you saying the green is okay and the red should be left alone with the cruise removal?

You'll need one of these to remove both:

Otherwise, you can leave the box on the firewall and disconnect the secondary cable and hardware that runs near the upper intercooler pipe (green in your diagram). Unbolt the top from the cruise box on the firewall, undo the secondary and leave the box and main throttle cable in place (red).

Hope that helps,

Andy
