Just wonder, if you have deleted the cruise control WHY did you do it?

Im not interested in hearing why it should be done, or shouldnt be done.

Im just curious on why you deleted the cruise control system if you did, As im considering doing it myself.

Also if you deleted the cruise control system, How do you like it? And are you happy you did?

Thanks =)

1. I never use cruise control
2. It's cheap to do
3. It's easy to do
4. Less clutter to look at
5. Less to get in the way when working under the hood
6. Saves a little weight
7. One less thing to break

Normally when people get rid of the cruise control is when they highly modify their cars to street or drag strip racing and the last thing you want to do is take the high performance car for a long distance trip. Also it clear the way for tuning.

I took mine out to save a little weight and clean up the engine bay to make working on the car easier.

Having cruise control on a supercharged manual transmission all-wheel-drive sports car is like having an art show for the blind. My car came with it,& I never used it once. Then the original 7 bolt blew up, and the cabling & actuator for the cc. just tripped me up while removing the engine.

Rip it out. If you want cruise control, get a Rolls Royce . . . :talon:

I removed it because I wasn't actually able to go WOT! After adjusting the hell out of the various CC cables (that helped a little), I still couldn't get the TPS values to show 99% TPS when logging. I ended up giving up and just removed it, as I never used it anyways. After switching over to the non-CC cable, my car was able to go WOT for the first time since I've owned the car... Same TPS sensor... No adjustment required.

I have been enjoying full WOT runs ever since. :thumb:

+1: It also un-clutters your engine bay.

I've had mine on for years for driving to events. Since I won't be driving it to long events anymore, I may take a day this week to go and see if I can dig up a decent manual cable at the local JY.

Any downfalls in deleting the cruise control system? (Besides the obvious no cruise control haha)

the reason im getting opionions from everyone is im doing a very large writeup on the topic =)

thanks guys.

also does anyone have any Before & After engine bay shots of the cruise control removal?

just so everyone can see just how much space is saved by going with the C.C Delete
.

My reason for wanting to remove it is to open up a decent amount of space back next to the IM. I can put my FPR and catch can there once the cruise is gone.

That and the throttle response, and the fact that I haven't used it in a couple years.

does anyone have a step by step on doing this ive looked through the forums and havnt seen one.... and yes i used search

Look up 2 posts at the link Eric posted.

I'm not deleting mine, I'm doing a writeup on the process for a magazine and for dsmtuners tech section if its needed =)

That's what the link Eric posted was. A how-to on how to remove your cruise control and install a non-cruise cable. Unless I just don't understand what your plans are.

Since we are on that topic not to steal a thread or anything, but what else besides the cable does the cruise control use? The reason why I am asking is I installed megasquirt on my 420a and cruise control does not want to turn on anymore. It's not a big deal would just like to know incase someone else asks me.
