:dsm: Hello to all tuners,
im in the process of doing some upgrades to my eclipse and im trying to make the engine compartment look a lil more "clean" so i mounted the battary in the trunk still not good enuff so i tryied to take out the cruis control unit and and ran into problems do i have to replace the throttel cable for a non cruise control one

1G, I do not know the cable PN but it is easy, just get the correct cable from one of the various vendors, remove you old cable at the firewall, via 2 10mm bolts, slide under your dash and disconnect that cable from the top of the gas pedal. remove your intermediate link assy, remove the vacuum actuator assy, then remove the 2 10mm bolts that hold the brack to the intake mani, the finagle the cable out of the Tbody (kinda like the brake assy on your old BMX). take hte new cable feed it thru the firewall, and bolt it back to the orginal spot (2 10mm bolts), reconnect like the old one to the gas pedal (yellow clip to rubber pad to metal pivot ball, incase you were not paying attn when you yanked it out, and make sure it clips into place on the gas petal, you do not want it to pop off in traffic). run the cable around the intake mani similar to the old one, temporaly tighten the 2 10mm bolt on the mani, refinagle the new end on to the T-body, adjust the 10mm bolt on the manifold correctly. and viola your done.

I did it to me 2G its easy, anyone can get it right, but I do not really like the "cut it here and solder" method. Solder is made up of either 40 or 60 percent tin. not very strong, besides I like to do things right, no JB weld on my car. But expect to pay @30 for the cable. have fun. No real performance changes, just less stuff under the hood. I made a nice place to put my relocate coolant overflow bottle and install a catch can.

hey, thanks spoolup. Your post was very helpful, unlike those others before yours. I wanted to clean up under the hood to get everything unnessasary out. Of course, I didin't think it was a mod that would make me faster. Anyways, thanks for the constructive advice spoolup!

First thing you need to do is figure out what failed. '91 and up use a vacuum operated CC. '89-'90 used a different electrical actuator. I got tired of answering how to test so I copied the basic information into a web page. Once you use the CC diag system you can start looking at why it's failing. That vacuum based systems are know for having the vacuum line to the actuator in front of the drivers side wheel well crack and for having the switches on the brake and clutch pedals wear holes in their stops. Both of these problems will cause your CC to turn on but not work.

What throttle cable do i need to order to do this mod. I need to get rid of my cuise control, i dont use it and its just in the way. I heard that its from a 95-96 2.4 non turbo spyder. Is that correct , thanx Chris,

its pretty easy except for one step,

you know what all the cruise control parts are to start off.

you unbolt the box and then take the line off of the throttle body, then go to the pedal assembly and you will find the other part of the line, you take some pliers or something to brake the little ball out of the pedal. then you take the non cruise throttle cable and then place it by the fuel injectors, then put it on the throttle body, you go to the pedals and lay it in and snap it down, your done!!!

now wasnt that alot easier then telling him to do go find it himself! If you dont know what your doing Stapl3 then dont post up needless things!!!!!!

sure in the hell would help if your profile was filled out so we new what kinda car you were talking about.
1g ? 2g ? 3/s ? EVO ?
