:dsm: Hello to all tuners,
im in the process of doing some upgrades to my eclipse and im trying to make the engine compartment look a lil more "clean" so i mounted the battary in the trunk still not good enuff so i tryied to take out the cruis control unit and and ran into problems do i have to replace the throttel cable for a non cruise control one

I removed it because I wasn't actually able to go WOT! After adjusting the hell out of the various CC cables (that helped a little), I still couldn't get the TPS values to show 99% TPS when logging. I ended up giving up and just removed it, as I never used it anyways. After switching over to the non-CC cable, my car was able to go WOT for the first time since I've owned the car... Same TPS sensor... No adjustment required.

I have been enjoying full WOT runs ever since. :thumb:

+1: It also un-clutters your engine bay.

Same for me. I could not get past 97%. I probably could have done some more tweaking, but I wanted to get rid of it because mine was very pulsey and just sucked.

I love my cruise control!!!!!! I frequently make 3 - 8 hour drives in the summer and sometimes all teh way to teh east coast (home) and back here to omaha, so i feel it's a nessecity!

You can however move it to the location down where the rear tranny mount is bolted and get it out of the way while retaining it.

Another thing that's nice to clean up is to move the fuse box under the right fender where teh UICP comes through.

The only downside to no cruise control is a cramped up foot after a long drive.

how do u take it out, were the hell is it, mine doesnt work at all?

My cruise control decides to work when it wants to. Why is that? It works about 60% of the time.
Before I took mine off half the time I would have to lift up on the clutch pedal with my foot to be able to turn the cruise on. Maybe that is your problem also.

Well there might only be a couple of us, but my cruise controll works PERFECTLY and you couldn't pay me to take it out. So if you do drive down the freeway in your DSM do you ever notice those guys that pass you, then slow down in front of you....so you pass them again (cruise is still set to 70) while never changing your cruise they pass you again get in front of you and slow down...

I HATE THOSE PEOPLE!!
and if you deleted your cruise you probably never used it so you probably never noticed those people cause YOU ARE ONE!! LOL I love mine!

A TON of them, go to a junk yard and you can prob find a dozen cars sitting there with a non cruise cable, any of the TEL's without it, eagle 2000's... etc.

I just grabbed a non cruse cable from the junkyard.

It is pretty darn easy to do. And I like the OP have a 90 model, stupid ugly ass brass box! As I recall it was pretty much as easy as unbolting / unhooking the cables etc. and swaping in the NT cable.

Only thing hard part is adjusting the cable correctly, and I wouldn't call that hard.

The reasons I decided to do this are:

1. my original cable grounded and caught on fire (always make sure your battery is tied down and properly grounded :D)

2. The cruise control didn't work anyway

3. less clutter

but now I can't get the thing adjusted right. no matter how I adjust the mounting bracket on the t-body the gas pedal is rock hard and won't go back down to idle unless I put my foot under and pull it up (stays at 2k). The wire is rubbing somewhere, I can't figure out where or why, it moves freely when its not connected.

Okay i was going to start a new thread but it pointed me here.

I have a 2g 420a and want to remove the entire CC box and put in a non CC cable. Can some one please tell me how to do this or at least post a more informative link? All the ones i go to are for 4g63's.

Also does a non CC cable have a cable going from the gas pedal to the throttle without going through the little gears? just a straight cable.

Thanks again and like i said i did try and search this before posting...

Just go to a junk yard and find a n/t 2g without cruise control and put that in your car.

I read through this entire thread and didnt find a definitive answer..will a 1g 4g63 throttle cable fit in a 2g 4g63? What about a 2g 420a?

Pretty much I need to know my options for getting rid of my cruise control on my 2g
