ok n00b question here.. i got my MBC all hooked up fine (dejon tool.. sweet!) i'm just wondering what to do with the stock boost solenoid hoses.. i took the top one completely off (this is the one that was going to my intake pipe.. then capped that nipple on the pipe) .. the one on the bottom, that tees off and goes to both the wastegate and the turbo housing, is still there. i just bent it backwards and stuck it in the bracket that the top hose was at.. its still connected to the solenoid though. is this alright? can i leave it on there like that will it screw anything up?

On a related topic, a friend installed a mbc on his 90 gst and didn't know where to set it, sooooo he accidentally made his boost way to high and blew his motor. oops. So be careful adjusting it.

I know I am kind of late to this (heck, it is my first post :) ), but I prefer the turbo outlet. The manufacturer uses that for a reason :).. You get faster wastegate response (less spike) and you don't cause any unwanted pressure leaks in the BOV lines which can cause the BOV to not operate properly (although you probably wouldn't even notice).. I know some people recommend tapping the BOV line, but this is usually to help increase spool (takes longer for the boost to reach the wastegate, so it will stay closed longer causing faster spool), however, with any quality ball and spring MBC (mine, Hallmans, Extremes, etc.) this should not be an issue anyway. I know of a few 11-1200 hp. race cars and they all tap the turbo outlet for a reason :).

ok got the mbc installed i just wanted to make sure i had it hooked up right. i know one of the vacume lines goes to the wastegate but where did you hook the other line to? thanks guys

will wither way work? the factor bsc seems like it bleeds off air from the waste gate. will after market ones work that way?

i just ordered an mbc and i want to make sure i install this right the first time around. im not really a "parts name person" im more of a "look at the picture" install person. according to my ghetto drawing, where do install the inlet/outlet part of the mbc to. thanks

You have two fittings on your BOV?? You shoudl unhook the smaller one and leave it be. Put you MBC and splice it in with a (youll have to redo this) line going from the BOV to the intake manifold. SO you have yoru pressure source there... then run another from the other side of the mbc directly to the wastegate actuator and your done. You can rule out a lot of crap in yoru pic... and /or get rid of the bcs if you want

well i have a greddy type s bov and there is a upper and lower nipple on it. and i want to keep the lower one hooked up somehow ( i readup on this and decided to plug it in. so basically i just have to t into the line going from the bov to the intake mani and the other line goes to the wastegate directly. that means i have to get rid of that factory t fitting and have the hose go directly to the turbo housing, rather than splitting it off to the wastegate. right

Look Im going to go out on a limb here and hope that everyone with a damn Greddy BOV listens or reads this. This is directly from the Greddy website and I quote
"How do I set the adjustment? The top nipple on the top section will connect to the intake manifold (behind the throttlebody, so it reads both vacuum and pressure. Make sure it does not get bled off to anything) while the lower fitting is a vent for the internal diaphragm. The lower nipple should be left open and not be connected to anything. Make sure when you adjust the stiffness of the valve that you first loosen the lock nut before you adjust the setscrew. Adjustment will very from car to car, so you will need to use trial and error to find a good setting. Generally you want to valve as tight as possible, without getting any compressor surge. (Compressor surge will sound like a stutter.)m You don't want it too loose or it can open too early and you will loose boost. The valve should make one clean blowing sound, it should not stutter. It should also not open before the throttle is shut.

The lower fitting is a vent for the internal diaphragm. The lower nipple should be left open and not be connected to anything. Do not plug up this opening. " :thumb:

There now maybe you will beleive me. You mbc needs to have a signal from the wastegate. Why? Because you mbc needs to hide/delay the signal to the wategate. I do not understand your diagram to well cause yo udont label anything. But the mbc is usually tapped into the bov line that runs to the intake manny because it is a close and great source of pressure for it. Secondly the other line needs to go to the wastegate directly and not t-into anythign else that bleeds off or anything.

well i tried leaving the lower nipple both plugged and unplugged and theres little difference. in fact it flutters a little bit more unhooked. but anyway back to the main topic. just so that i understand u right i am going to t-in the one end of the mbc to the one bov liine going to the intake manifold. now according to my picture, the other end of the mbc will connect to the wastgate (yellow ball). so the orange line will go directly to the turbo housing, since no t-fitting is needed anymore because it is not splitting off to the wastegate because of the mbc. sorry for any confusion. thanks for the input so far though.

Not to be a jerk, but did you even try the search button? This has been gone over countless times. It's just frustrating when there is a search and it doesn't even get used :( Go to www.vfaq.com and there that should show you how it done.
