I didnt really know where to post this, but since it says directly on Magnus' website arms must be fabricated i figured it would go good here. I started a thread a couple months ago in the roadcourse forum about a true race suspension. I talked to magnus today and they did state that arms had to be custom. now i have a few questions to fabricators. It looks like from the pictures that there are no holes for mounting the control arms, only holes that look like bolts go into. Does this mean custom brackets to extend the arms have to be made? Im still waiting on a call back, but i was trying to get some opinions. The knuckle looks bare compared to a stock 2g knuckle, like there are no mounting points at all. anybody know anything about these?
 
I looked for more info on these a while ago and Mike Wohler (gastroker) was the only person Marco could point me to for more info.

its a lot of work to use them. Im still in the process of making a tubular frame and control arms so i've not actually used them yet. Here's a link to a thread where've we started fabbing everything up. However, the contro arms in the pics have been scrapped and we're in the process of making different ones.

i was told by one guy at magnus that you need to build arms, but it wouldn't require a tube frame, maybe a custom sub-frame? these are cheaper than what my fabricator can cnc a knuckle set for me for, but, these look like they will be way more of a hassle. My fabricator cnc's billet knuckles for trophy trucks, so he can build knuckles with lowered mounts for the anti dive, as well as lower the upper control arms down. at $2500 its a little expensive but worth it for a road race car, if the budget allows.
 
This upright is a similar concept to that used on formula car double-wishbone suspension. Although, this one is poorly designed in my opinion, in just about every way possible.

First, if you're going through all the trouble of building a custom suspension, who cares about using the OEM 2g wheel bearings? You might as well go non-OEM there too. The OEM wheel bearings aren't even that good and are notorious for not holding up to high G loads. You need a real race wheel bearing, and at that point you might as well go with centre-lock hubs/stub axles as well.

In addition to that, both the upper and lower arm points are in single shear. Really? WTF Look at just about any good formula car suspension, and at the very least the lower pickup point on the upright is in double shear. Here's a nice drawing of how a standard formula car upright would attach to the arms. Notice the mounts are both in double shear:

what wheel bearings would you go with?
i didnt take a long looks at gastroker's thread but it looked pretty good. i agree on the single shear. could bust one of those pretty easy.
for road racing getting the right caster and kick up would be tough.

when i get home i will edit this point again with a knuckle designed for a WRX that has bump steer adjustments in it and some other cool stuff designed around it.
