Ok so I dropped off my block 3 months ago at the machine shop to have it bored, and have my roatating assembly balanced. I have been coming back to see if the work was done and he has constantly been giving me another excuse as to why it wasnt done. Now, I went in today and he asked for my clutch disc. My question is why would the machine shop need my disc? I have never heard of this.

he dosnt , hes slacking, the flywheel and pressure plate he would need, that can effect balance
the disc is on the input shaft and rotates sepertly, so it will not end up in the same spot everytime you step on the clutch.

Well first, 3 months is nuts! I'd be looking for a different machine shop if I were you, and I'd be doing it now before this shop does any work.

Second, if you're having the rotary assembly balanced this can include the pressure plate and I believe they will want the disk when they mount everything together for the balancing. I'm almost sure I gave my machine shop the disk and pressure plate for my balance job a few years back.
